"At around 11 PM the night of check in we had smoke, paramedics and firemen on our floor (2nd floor). My wife asked them if we were evacuating. She was yelled at to get back in her room, that the smoke was toxic, and she would be safer in the room. We heard other guests being told the same thing; there was a fair amount of yelling. There was also an extremely loud exhaust fan running in the hallway sounding like a small jet engine. We never heard any general fire alarm, nor did the front desk contact us to advise us on the situation. Two large fire engines were parked just outside and below our room (just beyond the entry way canopy) with lights flashing. Around midnight, I think, the commotion began to subside. This morning, at first, the morning shift clerk had no information on what had happened. But when we talked to him at check out he was able to inform us of some of the details. He described an alcholic who checks in and calls paramedics to go to rehab or something "on a weekly basis". His description of the incident didn't quite match our experience, particularly regarding the smoke and fumes. We throized that there may have been more than one incident and he agreed. The morning clerk was very friendly, but just did not have all the information. The beds are comfortable, but noisy - tossing and turning in bed causes a lot of squeaking, and my wife's bottom sheet did not fit well and caused some discomfort."
