Beautiful mountain cabin

This was a beautiful mountain cabin with a stunning view, plenty of space, and well stocked kitchen. It felt very private. The hot tub was great! The driveway was a challenge for those from the flatlands, and we found that 4 wheel drive or minimum of rear wheel drive were a must for this location. The proximity to Pigeon Forge and GMSNP worked great for our group.

Amazing house in the mountains

We would definitely stay here again. The driveway is something. I am surprised there isn’t a rail on the one side and the electrical box being at the top. Beautiful views that high up. Gorgeous home and loved the size of the kitchen. It was so handy having the grill on the deck right off the kitchen. Thanks for letting us stay and being able to use your property!!

SUNSET LODGE 🌞😎

Talk about gorgeous and amazing views to say the least! This place is not only exactly as described but location-location-location! Just minutes away from dining, shopping, the night life, and attractions, (highly recommend Parrot Mountain and the “Island”)!!!!! The lodge had everything we wanted and then more exceeding our expectations! We had fun listening to music with the fireplace going while grilling out playing pool and even chilling in the hot tub!!!!! Had plenty of games to play not to mention hiking on the property but we didn’t get to hangout by the fire pit as it was too windy! We definitely recommend SUNSET LODGE🤩💖

Nice location

The location was great. Beautiful cabin. Property was clean except for the floors. Walking barefoot from the shower to the bed, feet were black. TV in the bedroom with the white farmhouse furniture would not stay connected to the WiFi so my husband and I could not watch it for the first several days. Finally on the 3rd and 4th day it decided to stay connected. Overall our stay was enjoyable and the price was great. No major issues that would prevent us from returning in the future.

Great cabin with beautiful views

My family enjoyed the cabin itself. It was clean, accommodating, and peaceful. Beautiful sunsets. Well equipped kitchen. The driveway is another matter. It is possible to drive up the driveway with a front wheel drive vehicle, at least on a dry day, if you have proper momentum. But the driveway texture in the middle (provided for traction) will eat your tires. On one of our trips up, we didn't have enough momentum, stopped at a weird angle and ended up needing a tow truck to correct the angle so we could back down the driveway safely. We ended up needing to buy new tires to drive home. When we rented a 4-wheel drive Jeep, it went up pretty easily in low gear. You also want something with some clearance otherwise you will scrape the bottom of your vehicle on some of the turns. Save yourself some heartache and follow the 4-wheel/all-wheel drive recommendation. If you do, I am sure you will enjoy this cabin as we did even with the mishaps.

Spring Break 22 - Wears Valley

Let me start by saying the owner of this property was very responsive and kind to deal with. However, our stay was less than favorable. You cannot get to this house without substantial horsepower or all wheel drive. At its peak it is a 27% grade going up with a sharp turn at the top to park. Although intense, our family drives a large off-road vehicle. Second, upon arrival we were immediately greeted with dead bugs all over the house. 3 vacuum fills the first night followed by daily vacuuming after. As I understand the mountains are infested with a certain beetle and the owner had sprayed before we arrived. Would have been nice for someone to clean it up prior to arrival. The linens and sheets were all clean, the upstairs fridge was not. I cleaned it prior to our grocery haul. Second, some of the photographs are misleading. The views are primarily from the southwest looking decks and not reflective of the close busy highway below. Additionally the outdoor fireplace was not able to be used as it was new. Third, the hot tub was unusable. It was covered with slim, smelled and had only one functioning vent. I did let the owners know upon our departure. Lastly, due to the new construction we got a huge screw in our tire and had to leave a day early. We were contemplating this anyway due to the bug situation, but we had no choice in the matter after that. All of this has been communicated to the owners. Again, they were really nice. We rent exclusively from VRBO for 4-5 vacations annually. First time I have had to leave a bad review. hopefully this will help them improve other’s stay.

Perfect family getaway

The cabin is beautiful, and just as pictured. The driveway is not for the faint of heart, but once you drive it a few times-it’s not so bad. Very quiet neighborhood, with beautiful views. We even saw a mama bear and her three cubs while there! The location of the cabin is close to everything. Communication with the owner was simple, easy, and effective. She responded to every message I had within a few hours. Truly a great experience.

Bad driveway

Second level door wide open Hot tub had bugs and sediment in the bottom Lady bugs everywhere in cabin Driveway is only for extreme off roaders, 45 degree Trash cans full, so we took if with us Poor cleaning, if any Garage a mess

Scary!

First of all, we have been coming to this area for over 30 years. The chalet is very nice inside and very well stocked. The owner was responsive. However, when I messaged about getting in early, I never received a response. Upon arrival, we were literally shocked at the steepness of the driveway! We had issues with our all-wheel drive vehicle after climbing the hill. So much so that we had to call AAA and they wouldn't drive up the driveway. We called the owner's recommended mechanic--he never returned our call. The pictures do not justify the hill. If this is rented out in the winter and there snow or ice, I don't know how you would get up it. And upon leaving--it was the most scared I have ever been going down a driveway in this area. I would never rent this property again! I would also suggest that the owner disclose how bad it is. Once you go up I wouldn't suggest leaving until you are ready to go home.

Driveway is a hazard. We had to spend the first night in a hotel and then rent a 4 wheel drive.

Abysmal getting to it. The house was nice enough, We have stayed in other places in Wears Valley with much better results. Would not rent this property again.

Anniversary trip

Had a great time! The cabin was amazing, there was everything and more in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable. Views were outstanding. We did not take the steep driveway warning seriously, we did not have problems with my All Wheel drive Edge but it is very steep. Not a lot of room for a truck to park at the top. We were packing the car and left the back hatch open, we lost a 5 pound bag of lifesavers to a bear. Only left the car for less than 2 minutes. Nice location to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Would definitely stay here again

Spectacular Vacation Home

“The Views” and the home itself… everything was perfect! Our family fit comfortably with so much space to spread out and relax or play games. The Kitchen is so fabulous we never even went out to eat. Our minivan did not make it up the driveway which we were completely aware was a possibility prior to arrival so we parked on the pad at the bottom and my son in laws Nissan did make it up, so he was our shuttle all week! All in all amazing house, hope we can rent it again!!

4 WHEEL DRIVE REQUIRED

We booked this stay over a year ago and at the time there were no reviews regarding the driveway. HOWEVER, we failed to make it up to the house on TWO separate occasions, one of which required a tow truck. Most cabins in TN say 4 wheel drive, all wheel drive recommended, and every other stay our vehicles have made it just fine. This listing says it but means REQUIRED. We had two small SUVs that were not all wheel or 4 wheel that both failed to make it. If this happens to you, good luck because your mirrors are also worthless when you have to back down the side of a mountain with two decent curves in it. The house itself was wonderful. We are a family and our kids are grown with their own spouses. Each couple got their own floor essentially which worked very well for us. We loved the hot tub, the pool table and the big dining table for games. At the house it is an active bear area so we spent a lot of time watching for bears. They come right up into the fire pit and even came onto the lowest level of the porch. It was wonderful to be able to see the wildlife. We spent a lot of time on the second level deck in the outdoor living area and enjoyed the ring game. We found the indoor furniture to be not so comfortable however the beds were AMAZING. We all slept so well! Between the owner or previous guests the home was well stocked with detergent, pots/pans, mixing bowls, spices, etc. which was a nice surprise. Overall very enjoyable when you subtract the stress of the driveway.

Breathtaking View

We had a wonderful week at this cabin. Most of the reviews mention the driveway. Yes...it is a hard one to get up. That is the price you pay for the beautiful view. I drive a Kia Sportage and I would put it in sports mode and all wheel drive. Get as big of a run as I could and floor it. Right before I got to the top it would feel like I wasn't going to make it, but always did. We did see a bear our first day which was cool, but made going outside a little scarier. We finally decided to make a fire our last day. The bear was back, but as soon as he heard our voice he went back up into the woods. I believe he was more scared of us, then we were of him. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything that you need. This cabin and the view is beautiful!

Driveway is bad

The lower level had a smell. Oner said pipes were dry snd to run water that did work drive way is a nightmare dishwasher full of dishes, trash cans outside were packed with trash. Several lamps did not work and kitchen table and counter top were dirty. Overall it was ok at best.

Beautiful cabin and view!!

Absolutely loved the cabin and the view!! The cabin itself was very clean and was well stocked with everything you would need for your stay. My family also loved eating at Elvira’s cafe which is located at the end of the road. The driveway, however, is a different story. It is it for the faint of heart lol. An AWD or 4x4 vehicle is a definite must!! It will make navigating the driveway easier. Once I figured out how to navigate the driveway, it definitely became easier. I will definitely rent this cabin again!!

Mountain Getaway

The property was amazIng. The views were breathtaking. The owner was very prompt in getting back with us about an issue we had. Overall a great stay EXCEPT for the driveway. The driveway was a NIGHTMARE!!!! IT IS STRAIGHT UP AND A 90 DEGREE TURN AT THE TOP!! You can not slow down once you start up the hill. You have to gun it at the bottom and dont let up. Coming down one day it was raining and we slid down part of the driveway. I drove a front wheel drive honda crv. My other family drove a Nissan rouge. We both had tons of issues getting up and down. My other family even had to buy new tires when they returned home because the tires slid so much going down and spun so much going up it wore down to the wires. Take the posting serious. 4 wheel drive is a MUST!!

Great Mountain Experience!

Was accommodating for infants and children. Great location to the National park. We used the grill and the grill scent does bring our bears! Saw one checking out the grill afterwards in the evening!

Spacious and Beautiful!

Such an easy, true mountain experience. We even saw a small bear while making s‘mores (and quickly went upstairs to watch from the balcony). My husband, myself, our 3 kids, and our parents (8 total) slept comfortably with enough private bedrooms for all adults. The view was breathtaking and the property was gorgeous. Instructions were accurate and easy. The driveway was pretty scary for us not used to mountains city folk but my husband and father in law handled the steep drive beautifully while I put a sweater on my head 😅. Can’t wait to go back!
