It's a beautiful lake and you can really relax here. Other reviews are accurate and this property can be described as a "classic lake home." The beds were very comfortable and our simple requirements of a bbq and a fire pit by the lake were very well met. Kim answered all questions very quickly. Great host...and a nice puppy.
Great location on the lake and well located for the wedding we were attending in Monroe. Reasonably well equipped kitchen. For 4 or more only 1 bathroom can lead to a queue but it’s hardly a major issue. 6 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
property was perfect for our needs. quiet and calm. It was a good spot.

Disappointing overall. I will say that Kim’s directions to the property were very accurate and it was easy to find. She was very responsive to us while we were there. However, the basement unit smelled like mildew. Two of the beds were unusable because they smelled like urine and mildew. I spent 20 minutes cleaning the coffee maker and the washing machine had black mold in it, making it unusable. The property was in a beautiful location on the lake. However there was decades of debris all around, and it was a shame that what could have been a fabulous view of the lake was obscured by overgrown trees and bushes. After leaving, our clothes smelled like mildew. Definitely not a good value for the price. I would recommend avoiding this one.
Quiet and serene location! Space has everything we needed. Owner was very kind and responsive. Accurate description and photos. Plenty of space for our family of 6. Would love to stay again! Thank you!
This is a beautiful property with anazing views from the windows and right on the lake. The owners live on the property but in a different wing of the house and they were very helpful and friendly.
We loved our stay. The house is very comfortable, quiet and private. Access is very easy, thanks to Kim's precise instructions. The location is incredible, with the lake just a few meters away. We'd love to live here!
We loved our stay!!! The lake is gorgeous and easy access from the home down some stairs. We rented the pontoon boat and had a blast seeing all the beautiful properties surrounding the lake. We fed the chickens fresh fruit daily, my toddler LOVED it!!!
We fell in love with this place. Tons of space for us and so beautiful. We loved the view and the quiet. The lake was incredible and we loved to spend time on the dock. Easy distance to local towns.
Five of us from my small business in Montana traveled over for gymnastics training at our Region 2 Congress. The Ames Lake house was a fun and relaxing place to stay. Even though we were gone and busy all day, we liked sitting on the dock in the evening, and the kitchen was adequate for cooking our breakfasts and dinners. We slept well. Thanks for a great stay!
My daughters family came to visit. . . We had room for my partner and I, daughter, son in law and grand daughter and visiting other family members. Beds, dining, kitchen, games, TV, fireplace, boats, dock, firepit. . . . all add up to an awesome time to enjoy each other!
Very cool, vintage vibe with plenty of room and nice amenities. It was amazing to be deep in the trees on a lakefront with a fantastic dock and lovely fire pit. Our host was wonderful - very responsive and accommodating. The pontoon boat, pedal boat and floaties made for great lake fun! We had friends and family visit us every day and everyone loved the place. Truly a unique setting so close to the city. We highly recommend this getaway!
Kim has great communication. We arrived really late and in the dark and there was some confusion on our part of a locked door (figured out later it was locked on the outside but not inside) and Kim came out and helped us get in. She’s a gem!
The basement apartment is dated but it reminded me of staying at a family’s home. For what it is and where it’s at, it’s pretty great. The little lake adds to the charm.
We stayed here while we had work done on our house nearby. Not fancy but perfect if you want a comfortable, low-key place that's big enough to handle a group or family (with dogs!). Ames Lake is a sweet little lake with no motor traffic—ideal for kiddos on a hot afternoon or a quiet morning/evening on the dock. Easy access to Carnation/Remlinger Farm, Woodinville, Snoqualmie, and the Cascades.
If you want fussy, resort-style living, keep looking. For what we needed, this is a five-star spot: clean, private, spacious, well-stocked, and priced right. We were there for a wet and chilly week in November—naturally!—and were toasty and comfortable.
Kim is an attentive host, communicative, but not in your way. Happy to recommend.
The first feeling is serenity. Looking out over the lake. Unfortunately for us, the weather did not permit time on the lake. But the property was so well suited for a family gathering, it didn't matter. We were able to gather with family in the area, had BBQ's and played games. The beds were very comfortable, the home very clean. The owner was extremely responsive. We lost power on our last day. My family in the area siad it is common during storms. We were able to use the fireplace at stay warm. The home is difficult to find. Make sure you follow the directions! We were close to everything so it was all worth it!

Beautiful location and area
We were impressed with the area and lake and spaciousness of the suite. Travelling from Canada with 4 teenagers and there was room for everyone. The kids loved the hallway lol. The suite itself was good but lacked a few things we assumed would be there (sugar and coffee for example). We were really disappointed that there was no hot tub as was stated in the ad, but host quickly apologized for the incorrect info on the site. We didn't use the outdoor space as much as I had thought or hoped we would. The boats were covered (assuming for winter), the firepit had no firewood and the local store wanted $1 a piece and we didn't have anything to cut it up with. We were also scared the cedar boughs hanging down would be a problem and we didn't want to start a forest fire! The patio furniture was covered in debris and pine needles etc, so we didn't use at all. Space was quiet (zero noise from upstairs) and quite enjoyable for us. Had some trouble finding which driveway to use etc, (signs would solve this) but once we found it and realized we were in the right place, check in was easy. We had a great stay even without the hot tub and the drive in to Seattle was enjoyable. All in all quite a charming little suite.
We enjoyed our stay! Spotlessly clean, and the lake is beautifully tucked away so you feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere, but really only 20 minutes drive to many grocery stores and restaurants. Kim, the host, was very communicative, and she lives on the upper floor, so if we needed her she was right there, yet, she also let us have our privacy. We enjoyed the paddle boat and decided to rent the pontoon--and we also did a bit of fishing--really enjoyed our time at this house.
A few things I think should be noted about the space--These are not necessarily negatives, but just good FYI:
--If you're sharing the space with another family make sure you know them well as the master bedroom's patio door is the main entrance/exit to the lake. There is a second entrance, but that space was filled with construction remnants and dust, so with kids we opted to just go thru the master bedroom's patio door.
--The single bathroom has two doors (one from the master and the other from the hallway and neither doors lock).
--The kids' bedroom and the extra room are linked--you have to go thru the kids' room to get to that extra bedroom. Both of these rooms leaned on the colder/darker side, as I think this might have been a converted garage space.
--There are two, short sets of stairs to get to the dock/lake. They are relatively steep. Because of this those that have mobility issues or aging parents may have a hard time.
