Full marks to McDonald hotels.
We happened to be staying on one of their Santa Claus weekends and the atmosphere was lovely with lots of excited kids. The staff were great dressed in xmas jerseys and a lot of elves about. The hotel was very warm and welcoming the staff excellent, and a very comfortable room.

We were very disappointed in the service we received, we were unable to travel due to a red weather warning of not to travel due to severe storm Babet. We contacted both the hotel and hotels.com regarding a refund and they said they do not offer refunds which is very harsh due to the weather being out with outlets control

This large complex is an easy walk to the Main Street in Aviemore. Train and bus station, shopping and walking. The restaurants are great. We didn’t bring bathing suits so can’t comment about the indoor water park.

Upgraded to suite in Morlich hotel. Very roomy, comfortable and clean. 4 HotelS are situated in a campus style parkland, therefore restaurants and facilities are spread between the four, and not all located in the hotel into which you book, contrary to the impression on the website. Not a disadvantage, unless it is raining. Disappointed with dinner in sister hotel - service very good, food average, cost expensive. Large shopping area, which closes at 5 pm., just before most visitors are returning from their day out. Should it not stay open until, say, 7 pm?

room not cleaned for 2 days, complained to Manager whom informed me they were extremely busy, Impossible to use lift lift a bus party arrives as they all queue with suitcases to go tom rooms, same in morning trying to get a table at breakfast, tour parties have clearly marked tables, overall very poor

Meant to stay in morloich hotel within the complex but this hotel was full and we’re moved to highland hotel but we weren’t informed and no notifications of this so we’re stood about for a while trying to figure out what to do Communication could have been miles better

Buffet breakfast was lukewarm. TV in our room only had three channels plus children's programmes. Reception desk was unattended when we arrived. Loved the room....it had a super -king size bed and large shower. The hotel is well-placed for enjoying Aviemore.

Great food but noisy room
Very good breakfast and dinner, room was a bit dated / tired looking but clean and comfortable, only problem was very noisy been on the first floor lot of noise from ground floor and the very old and noisy lift, doesn’t seem to have any insulation in the walls as you can hear other guests in adjacent rooms and people coming and going through the corridors.

The room was fine, very clean but needs a little tlc, broken toilet seat and peeling bathroom door. The public areas of the hotel were a disgrace! Filthy toilets with 1/7 lights working, tables not cleared in the bar area for 2+ hours, staff stressed and shouting at each other. Our dinner on the first night was not good, bland and fatty, when we said this it was shrugged off! The restaurant was very busy and chaotic. If you don't have enough staff to cope with your guests don't book so many guests!

Loved every minute of my 2 night stay, very friendly staff, could not fault it, breakfast dinner were delicious both at the scottish and italian restaurant, the facilities were outstanding, bit dated in some places but overall very clean, bed was so comfy, definitely be back so quiet and relaxing stay

Fantastic stay, room spacious and very clean. Staff friendly. Plenty to do on site. Gym and pool fab. Hotel is a great location. Excellent variety at breakfast. Only downside is the price of the meals which has gone up since my last stay in April.

Looking tired
The hotel was looking a bit tired in places. The room was smaller than expected but too much furniture in the room didn’t help. The restaurant was closed so we had to go in the food hall. It was packed with companies, large groups, noisy. You couldn’t hear each other it was so loud. Not relaxing! The staff on reception were a bit hit & miss with the info they provided.

Huge bed and a great breakfast
While the hotel seemed a little dated in places, you could tell that upgrades were being made. The room was clean with a huge bed and a new-looking bathroom with walk-in shower. We had a dinner bed and breakfast package and the dinner was a little disappointing due to a long delay between starter and main course. However, the food seemed of good quality when it arrived. Breakfast was great however, with a wide range of buffet options from porridge, cereal, and yoghurt to "Scottish breakfast" to cold meats and cheeses, with croissants and cakes also available. A highlight of our stay was getting to use the swimming pool which had plenty of space for lane swimming.

We have stayed at the McDonald resort x3 previous times and have always thoroughly enjoyed our previous stays and this latest stay was as enjoyable. We were due to stay at the Morlich but ended up in the Highland Hotel. Great hotel, great facilities and friendly welcoming staff. The location is perfect for exploring Aviemore and the surrounding areas and is ideal as a base for being able to visit the rest of Scotland - the beautiful West Coast is a must with stunning highland scenery. We highly recommend staying at the resort. We have previously stayed at the Highland Hotel and the Aviemore Hotel on the resort and would presume that the Morlich would be exactly the same.

Lovely!
Our recent stay was very good, food was amazing however, a bit disappointing on request of a late check-out we were going to be charged extra, we only requested an hour extra & our room was booked after we were leaving.

Disappointed that we were moved hotel at the last minute due to essential maintenance which surely could have been advertised when we booked and then all Spa facilities were closed (steam room and hot tub - the hot tub was seemingly not working for a long time prior to us booking but this is still advertised as a service to be used. Portal system for booking spa treatments was not user friendly and no treatments were available online and spa seemed to be shut. Window in bedroom would not shut and therefore the wind was whistling through it all night!

Great stay
Had such a great time! Bar staff there are fantastic. A shame they don’t have local breweries on tap there. The restaurants don't seem to have a middle ground between quick service and slow service though but that is me probably being picky. A lot to do around Aviemore so we were only really around in the morning and evenings, however when we were there it was great.

Rooms were very clean and no problems at all. The issues were around service in the restaurants and concerns around how serious Covid was being taken. At times in the Morlich Giovannis there were too few staff especially at breakfast and although breakfast was served to you when no staff were available some guests were helping themselves to breakfast food and touching spoons and surfaces which wasn't good. We had issues with a couple of members of staff whose mask only covered there mouth and not nose and another who regularly could be seen taking their mask off, touching their mouth and nose then putting mask back on before continuing service. They could at least have used hand sanitizer. Cups and cutlery were not clean on a couple of occasions and although we saw tables being wiped down chairs were not and often had crumbs on them. We didn't think with Covid standards were as high as they should have been.

Fantastic hotel, excellent service
Fantastic stay at morlich hotel will definitely return. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Room immaculate, bed comfortable and high standard of cleanliness. £25 each to spend on dinner went far and food was excellent in the Italian restaurant. Staff again very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pool and particularly the wave machine. Felt very safe overall and can’t wait to come back.

Had to leave town to get an evening meal
Nice hotel, staff were pleasant enough but we were really disappointed to be informed that there was no availability whatsoever, in any of the four restaurants, for the entire duration of our stay. We were told we would need to make our own dinner arrangements in the local area or further afield. Staff were apologetic, but to recommend a 10 mile drive to a neighbouring town in order to have dinner was very disappointing. Sadly finding a restaurant with availability became the focus of our first day rather than enjoying our break, only to then be further disappointed at seeing many empty tables in hotel restaurants later that evening. I would suggest that guests are notified in advance if availability is tight in order to avoid disappointment & inconvenience on arrival. Otherwise, hotel was quiet, clean & in good condition. Good WiFi. Good shower and a very large & comfy bed.

Wonderful location shame about the tired rooms
So this resort review is confusing me. The common areas are beautiful, the food in the restaurant is amazing and the surroundings really nice. However, the rooms are really tired looking and in desperate need of a lick of paint. In our room on the first floor we had a really comfy bed and that is where the positive things end. The bathroom had loads of flaking paint, the silicone around the shower was all peeling off and the protective rubber end of the door stop was missing so was really sharp. For a 3 night stay for 2 people we only had 1 shower gel miniature and to top it off the room was hotter than the sun and had no AC or fan. We turned off the heated towel rail which was on when we came in (in July!!) Opened the window and closed the curtains when the sun was in room but still it was unbelievably hot during the night. All this hotel needs are some small tweaks and it will be top class. The food in the restaurant and the service the staff gave is what you expect for a MacDonald hotel but the rooms were really disappointing.

The property is now a little dated. Little bits missing ….. little bits broken. Drawer in room broken, knob on coffee box missing, extract fan in bathroom not working. Lifts and hall areas worn and tired looking
