"Kupu Kupu Barong in Ubud, Bali is located in a beautiful area with very good scenery. Being surrounded by the jungle gives the resort a peaceful and natural atmosphere, and the views are truly relaxing and memorable. The hotel staff were very nice, friendly, and helpful throughout the stay. They were welcoming and did their best to make the experience comfortable. However, the property itself feels quite outdated and old. The wooden flooring creaks, some areas seem to be starting to rot, and even some stair posts are visibly deteriorating, which may become a safety concern soon. Because the resort is deep in the jungle where it rains often, they are constantly battling moisture, algae, crawling creatures, and the natural effects of the environment. In my opinion, the property really needs renovation and updating. While staying in the jungle means you are naturally living with nature and the elements, and some travelers may love that experience, for the price, there are newer and more contemporary places to stay elsewhere in Bali that may offer better overall value. Personally, I would likely not return, but if being fully immersed in the jungle environment is your preference, this may still be a good fit for you."

"I had an amazing stay here. From the moment I arrived, everything just felt right. I booked a private garden villa with a pool, and honestly, it felt like it was made for a king—peaceful, private, and just the kind of space you want when you’re celebrating something special. I came here for my 50th birthday, and the whole experience made it even more memorable. The staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely warm—nothing felt forced, just real, kind people who made you feel taken care of. One thing I really appreciated was how clean everything was. Like, spotless. You can tell they take pride in maintaining the property. The gym is on the smaller side, but it has all the essentials, so I was still able to get my workouts in without a problem. Overall, I left feeling happy, relaxed, and completely satisfied with my stay. I’d definitely come back again."

"It was my first trip to Bali and the offering can be overwhelming. I chose Como Uma Ubud because I wanted to be in a more quiet and relaxing environment, experiencing the rainforest and the infamous rice terraces, which I consider more typical for Bali. The stay was an absolute outstanding experience from start till end. I felt very well looked after and treated with a very warm welcome. The offerings from daily morning yoga and other activities, as well as pampering massages were simply perfect. My request to explore the rice terraces if possible off the touristic path was met with the highest standards. Made, their head of experience guided me along the terraces along with such knowledge and expertise. It was stunning. A regular shuttle is offered to get to Ubud centre, although it’s also possible to walk (this takes up to 40min in this heat it’s not for everyone and the shuttle the preferred transportation option). A very big thank you to the entire staff. You made my stay very special!"

"I absolutely loved staying here!! I also got an unexpected surprise from the staff at check in when they found out it was my birthday the day before and they all sang happy birthday to me and gave me a slice of cake, so thoughtful. The place is amazing, the views are perfect, exactly like what is shown. I stayed on river view and it’s a must when staying here. Sri and Desak were so sweet, warm and welcoming!! The whole staff is the absolute best! It’s also close to the Ubud market center and they offer shuttle services. When I come back to Ubud, which I hope is again in the near future, I will definitely be staying here. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else! "This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in and I have travelled a lot. The rooms were amazing, breakfast was delicious with a vast selection and in a very scenic setting overlooking the jungle. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. This hotel is pure luxury and truly authentic. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely comeback. Just be aware that there is a lot of stairs so not good if you have walking issues."

" The villa does not look like the pictures at all. It feels very old and has a noticeable smell. Even the bedsheets seem worn and not well-maintained. The pool light wasn’t working, which made it unusable at night. There were also a lot of ants and flies throughout the property. The food was horrible and not up to standard. Overall, the condition, cleanliness, and services were far below expectations."
