Live in the lap of luxury in this historically preserved 1869 mansion just steps from Forsyth Park. With 5 bedrooms and 5.5 baths, The Wedding Cake Main House sleeps 10 guests. Located on Monterey Square it is perfect for 5 couples, families or group retreats.



The Space:

One of Savannah’s most photographed and famous houses. It is truly one of the finest homes in the South East. It is now available as a luxury vacation rental.



This 1869 2nd Empire Baroque Home takes your breath the minute you see it. The Award Winning Mansion shows off an elaborate white bay window is so ornately decorated with stained glass windows and ornamental iron work that the long time residents of Savannah have always said it resembles an elegantly decorated 'wedding cake'.



The prized 'Wedding Cake Mansion' is the jewel of Monterey Square. The historical square was made famous from being featured in the movie 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'. Monterey Square is unquestionably the most beautiful square in Savannah. The square is graced by mansions on all corners, draped in Spanish moss and anchored with historic monuments.



The common spaces, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen and Keeping Room are elegantly decorated to meet the historic refinement of the historic home. Five regal bedrooms each with luxurious en suite bathrooms offer private sanctuary away from your group.



The gourmet kitchen has custom designed cabinetry, top of the line stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops will make the everyday chef or the culinary master feel at home.

Minimum age to reserve is 25 years old, no exceptions.



NOISE:

This property is NOT PARTY friendly. We do not allow loud noise, music or parties of any sort. Violators may be evicted and/or fined.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY is 10 people including infants & children, at all times.



The home does not have cable but free Wifi included. Bring your logins for apps!

PARKING for additional vehicles:

Downtown Savannah has metered, on-street parking Monday through Friday. SOME parts of the Historic District are free on Saturday/Sunday.

The City of Savannah uses Meter Pay Stations on each block.

Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. This place was as advertised Easy access to our family reunion location on Tybee Island. Quick and easy check in. We occupied entire house giving access to both kitchens and five bedrooms which were equipped with everything we needed. Deck was a pleasant addition. Perfect for my extended family. Lots of stairs, definitely got my work-out in.

Savannah Birthday Celebration

Absolutely wonderful!

This property is amazing. We were having a reunion with friends from college from the mid 1970 in NC! Everyone had a private bath and the kitchen was well appointed. We talked and laughed so hard that I have laryngitis! Memories for a lifetime.

We had to wait 2 hours in the rain to get in. The person sent to help was rude. The instructions sent to open the lockbox were inaccurate causing this delay. The elevator did not work to bring in the luggage or go to the bedrooms for 3 80 year olds. One of the dinning chairs was broken causing an 80 year old to fall and bruise her arm. Nevertheless, the place is beautiful and after we adjusted to the circumstances we had a good time.

Heart of Savannah

Our group of 10 had a wonderful stay at the “Wedding Cake House” in Savannah. The house and furnishings were beautiful and spotless and perfect for our group. The house is in an absolutely perfect area to walk and enjoy the historic neighborhoods and sites. It is a wonderful location to enjoy all the flavor and the graciousness that Savannah has to offer. We had a wonderful stay and Suzanne was superb at answering all our needs and questions. We hope to return and heartily recommend the house.
