About this property
The Grand Porch Oasis - Historic YWCA Building
Summary:
Experience classic Southern charm at The Grand Porch Oasis! Sip sweet tea or a mojito from the private balcony overlooking historic Oglethorpe Ave. With a 97 Walk Score, you’re steps from Savannah favorites like Collins Quarter, Husk, Flying Monk, and more. This light-filled, renovated historic condo features fast WiFi, Smart TV, Keurig, full kitchen, original hardwood floors, and modern comforts in the heart of downtown Savannah. SVR-02488
The Space:
Gorgeous original maple flooring, extremely high ceilings, pronounced trim and other historic features take you back in time where sipping sweet tea over good conversation was a common routine. We have a fully-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, laundry closet for washing/drying your clothes and plenty of seating space. We have a full table set in case you want to show off your culinary skills and have a formal sit-down meal. The cozy living room gets tons of light from the huge windows and French doors, so you can have a sunny morning breakfast to start the day off right! The twin room is a nice additional space for those with a child or maybe just a third-wheeler :) Easy to "work from home" with the high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of table space to set up at.

Guest Access:
You have 24/7 access to the entire condo, make yourself at home! being on the first floor, you can walk up the front steps and access your unit with ease. The balcony is totally private to you and your group. It is actually the only balcony in the condo building that is occupied. You have access to the rear courtyard which is shared with the condo building. There is a charcoal BBQ grill and plenty of outdoor seating back there. This is the only place you may smoke. There is a storage space in the lobby where folks keep their bikes should you want to bring yours, or leave your luggage while you go explore if you're waiting on a later flight out.
The Neighborhood:
We are located at Oglethorpe and Whitaker, an absolute prime location. You are walking distance to EVERYTHING. That said, if you're bringing a car, we suggest parking in the Robinson Parking garage which is only a few blocks from the condo. You may park out front also but it is metered, and sometimes hard to find a space. It is free on Sundays. We are surrounded by some of the best local restaurants in town and only a short walk to River Street, Bay Street and City Market. You really don't even need an Uber/Lyft at this location, walking is so easy from here :)
Getting Around:
Again, walking can easily be your first choice. Aside from that, there is a FREE trolley bus called the DOT shuttle that takes you all arounf the historic district. There is a stop just two blocks down at Whitaker and Liberty St. This is a nice way to get a good view of the City and have an easy hop-on-ho-off option that's free. Another free option is The Downtowner, which is an app like Uber/Lyft but ran by the City and completely free! It runs 10am-midnight daily. If you do need to bring a car, we suggest the "leave it and forget it" option - just park it in the garage and don't pick it up until it's time to leave.
Other Things to Note:
The condo building is mostly long-term residents so please respect your neighbors and keep your inside voices on. "Quiet hours" are from 10pm-8am. Please be a courteous guest and help us show the City of Savannah how important you all are to us!
Interaction with Guests:
We are available to guests via mobile Monday-Friday 9am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am-8pm. We don't live far so if you should need anything or have any issues, just let us know.
If you have any emergencies call 911.

This condo is exactly centered in the middle of all of my favorite Savannah spots. Easy to navigate to and from and was a perfect spot for my best friend and I to get away! The balcony is fantastic and a fun people watching perch. Condo is clean, hosts are attentive and communicated wonderfully!
We stayed here for the weekend, my husband and our daughter. It was a perfect location. We parked our car for the weekend and we were able to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. It is on a main street so there was some noise at night off and on. Beds were comfortable and the place was cozy and clean.
This apartment is in a great location, central to all of the historic district action and very close to SCAD. A nice alternative to staying in a hotel during freshman move-in week, with space to relax between activities. Highly recommend!
Great location! It was so easy to walk EVERYWHERE. The unit was clean and bright and had a great porch for rocking and people watching. Communication was quick and easy too!
I have been visiting Savannah for many years, staying in various airb&b’s and hotels. THIS is my favorite place to stay. The location is makes all of Savannah easily accessible. The condo was spectacularly clean and very comfortable and well appointed. The bed and linens are top quality. The kitchen well stocked (tea/coffee accessories a plus) and all of the furniture comfortable. The deck only adds to the perfectness of the condo. Can not wait to stay here again and will plan my travel around it's availability. Thank you for a wonderful getaway.
I brought my mom to Savannah to celebrate her 80th birthday. We had a lovely trip. The apartment was exactly as advertised. Clean, beautiful, comfortable. We loved sitting in the rockers on the porch. There are many people to watch and the trees all around make it a great way to spend time.
Hosts were responsive when I asked a couple questions about bag storage options.
No complaints at all, would definitley stay here again.
Convenient, clean, safe, but not for light sleepers
We were able to check in early on our day of arrival and communication with the owners was VERY easy and prompt! The property is centrally located and very walkable to Savannah sights. The unit was as pictured, clean, and newly renovated-we had a key for the front door to the building and a code for the door of the unit. Beds were super comfy and linens were ample. As previous reviews stated, and we knew going in, the property is on a busy street and the historic windows of this unit face that busy street. It is very loud at night, especially on the weekends.
My BFF of 52 years and her dear hubs of 30+ years and I chose this lovely base for a visit to Savannah and a chance to support their granddaughter at a national competition and staying at another location.
First, it is in a grand location! A block off a main thoroughfare, it was easy to walk to everything! The front porch with the four rocking chairs got plenty of mileage! Next, the condo, while not huge, maximizes space so well! Plus, there is a lot of privacy. We did not even stress over having one bathroom. It worked well. Last, the comforts were spot on—plenty of towels, a washer/dryer for a few small items and a quick wash, and a great TV (that was easy to use—even for a baby boomer).
I hope to come back and see the Christmas lights of Savannah and, if we go, this will be the first place I check.
Thank you for a relaxing stay!
My friends and I LOVED this apartment and would absolutely stay there again. We had first-floor access with that fabulous porch. We felt extra safe by having the lobby and not a door directly on the street. The garage parking was a good deal and a super short walk. Street parking was available if we had wanted to park there (more$$ than the garage). We walked everywhere we wanted to visit except Bonaventure Cemetery. FYI, if you go to this cemetery, the girl with the bird statue is at Telfair Museum. We googled it after looking for a looong time for it!
The place is lovely with lots of hot water and comfy linens. Just know this is an older building (with the character you’re looking for in an older building) and you are in the heart of the historic district. You WILL hear traffic noise at all hours and people on the sidewalks of this college area (SCAD). The noise machines provided did the trick and I slept like a rock! If you require absolute darkness to sleep, bring a sleep mask. Thanks for an awesome getaway!
Great place, very comfortable and in a great location to walk almost anywhere in Savanah. The space is very tastefully decorated and had everything we need to enjoy our visit.
This property checked all the boxes! In walking distance to all the squares, historical sites, restaurants and waterfront. The front porch provided a great outdoor/open air environment and constant entertainment from the intersection. Chase was a great host. He was very responsive and at the same times, gave us our space. We’d definitely look to this property for future visits
The host was welcoming and responsive. Everything was spotless, nicely updated, and working well. Comfortable queen and twin beds. Appreciated the sleep accessories! Cozy place to hang out between activities, and located in walking distance of quality restaurants and shops. We loved everything about Savannah and would definitely book here again!
The location was perfect. We were able to walk almost everywhere we went. Many great places to eat, drink and shop close by. We loved sitting on the porch between activities in our down time! Property was very nice and comfortable beds.
Everything was there that we needed except a noise machine didn't work in the single bedroom. They were necessary for sleeping at night, very noisy road outside the bedrooms.
We loved the location. It was in walking distance from all the sites we wanted to see. And we enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the bustling activity.
Location, location, location! We walked everywhere from here as it’s very accessible to all the sights. The bedroom can be somewhat bright at night so if that’s an issue , bring a mask. We would stay here again.
Cute, charming and well-appointed "apartment" in a historic building. Very clean and modern. Kitchen has everything you need. Great location, near all the sutes, but just far enough off the noise of the nightlife. Still a bit noisy with the traffic on a the street.
