Regina’s premier science center proves learning can be fun with in-depth exhibits, interactive displays and hands-on workshops.

Be enlightened and entertained at the Saskatchewan Science Centre where science comes to life. Kids and parents alike enjoy the extensive range of interactive exhibits, captivating activities and the enormous screen of its IMAX theatre.

Select any of the permanent exhibits which are designed to engage as much as they educate. Visit Richardson Ag-grow-land to learn about cutting-edge farming techniques that are helping Saskatchewanians to feed the world, or investigate the Anatomy Academy to discover quirky facts about the human body.

Head to Space Stadium Canada for one of the daily stage shows to learn about the mysteries of the cosmos. If you have a strong stomach, take a spin on the Gyro Gym, a rotating device similar to equipment used to train NASA astronauts. The centre features several other permanent and temporary exhibits and is a great place to learn about Canada’s contribution to space exploration.

The sport of ice hockey is a national obsession, so it’s only natural that the museum features an exhibit on the science of hockey! Canadian’s love their mountains too after exploring the exhibits, challenge yourself on the tallest indoor climbing wall in Canada. The 60-foot (18-metre) face offers harnessed climbing routes for all skill levels. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the moment.

For a more intensive learning experience, let the kids join one of the workshops that accompany the exhibits. With education levels catering up to grade 12, and with friendly and knowledgeable teachers, these workshops are a great way to spend a few hours and make new friends.

Before you leave, visit the centre’s IMAX theatre for an unforgettable 3D experience of both educational and popular movies.

The Saskatchewan Science Centre is located on Powerhouse Drive on the northern banks of Wascana Lake. Easily accessible by public transportation, the museum is handicapped-accessible. It is open seven days a week (though the IMAX theatre hours can vary). There is a small admission fee, with extra fees for workshops and IMAX tickets. No food or drink is allowed on the exhibition floors however, there are a number of food outlets nearby.
