This was an amazing place to be. Right in the old city and the parking provided was perfect. This place was within 5 minutes walk to restaurants, grocery stores and bakeries. All the bedrooms were well provided and a very impressive kitchen. I would love to be able to come back for another stay and will have no problem recommending this place to my friends. It was very helpful to have the property manager right nearby.
We loved our stay at this apartment and hope to stay there again. It is conveniently located, and surprisingly quiet (except for the occasional early morning deliveries, and the delightful ringing of church bells at 7am.) Paid parking is about 3 doors away, the free parking is 2 blocks away and easy to access.
We wish we'd known that it was going to be easy to pick up keys from the shop downstairs as we'd had a little panic about not knowing how we were going to access the apartment.
We loved this place so much! It’s beautiful and well-equipped. It has lots of character and an incredible kitchen. The parking spot is really easy. The hosts are very kind and helpful. Gerard speaks a little English, and Jeslina (probably screwing up her name) doesn’t really speak any at all. But she owns a gourmet food shop below the unit, so it is really convenient for periodic questions or needs. Highly recommend! Just be prepared with your translation app if you don’t speak French.
Perfectly located, great space in the middle of everything!
We had a rough beginning because the instructions from the owner about how to find the property and gain admission were not very clear. We only figured it out by reading previous reviews. Once we were there, the lady who manages the property (and runs the shop below the apartment) was wonderful. She was full of local counsel, including the fact that our stay coincided with a massive regional festival. So there were parking issues to be considered. She kept us updated on a daily basis. When we arrived, the AC was not working and we were in the middle of a super heat wave, but she jumped on the problem and got it fixed within 48 hours. That made all the difference in our ability to sleep in this beautiful place. The rest of our experience was amazing. We love to shop the local produce and food markets and do our own cooking. The kitchen was fabulous! There were four days during the festival when we did not leave Sarlat, and we were never bored. There was always something going on somewhere within the old city. Much of it, we could watch from our balcony. We would definitely visit this property again.
This apartment is located just at the edge of the center of the old town, perfect for walking, exploring, but very quiet at night. Huge space with 3 floors, very well equipped kitchen (but no basics other than salt and pepper). The balcony overlooking the street made for fun people-watching. The 3 bedrooms have AC, and powered shutters allowed for full darkening or fresh air in the day. Parking was convenient and free. Bathrooms are fine; bring your own soaps and shampoo. The laundry was easy to use and a great convenience for our traveling family. Sarlat itself has so much to offer in terms of history, architecture, food, evening street entertainment, friendly people, and close to other beautiful villages as well as the prehistoric caves. This is our second time in the area and we'd love to return again. We would stay in this apartment if available. Highly recommend. Communication with the host was not optimal. No phone number provided and we had to write a few times to be sure we were expected. But once we got there, it all worked out in spite of some language challenges.
The apartment over the gourmet shop was great. Lots of room for the three of us, and quiet. Excellent location in the old town, yet right by the pay parking lot. Very quiet as well. The only ca ution i would have is the entry stairs from the street, if mobility is an issue.Well worth the rental, and Justine is so helpful.
This is a fabulous apartment. The location of the property is superb. Free parking is available at the public gardens that are a short walk from the apartment. Wi-Fi is super fast and easy. Jocelyn is just downstairs and is super helpful and friendly. Knowing some French is very helpful. Would go back in a heartbeat.
We had an excellent stay in Sarlat. The property owner was welcoming and the location is excellent for day trips around Sarlat. We would not hesitate to come back.

Perfect place
We had a wonderful time visiting the area with this apartment as our home base. Right above the owners store at the edge of old town, it gave us the opportunity to see Sarlat when the crowds were not as big (mornings and evenings) and see the area during the day. The owner gave us advice on things to do. Apartment has a/c in the bedrooms which was perfect. Place was a value for the cost and space. Overall we highly recommend and would come back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful place with very bad communication from hosts
A nice apartment in a cute area, but overall bad VRBO experience due to the hosts. No check-in instruction and no response to messages asking about check in. The host, Gerard, finally answered when we called. But when our arrival got pushed to 9:45pm due to a cancelled train, no one met us at the apartment when we arrived. it was stifling hot in the apartment and a DJ was playing loud music in front for the Fete de la Music. The ad promises AC, but all 3 mini splits only worked in fan mode. When we called Gerard to explain the problem, he accused us of not following the instructions and said he could not come help us. Instead, he sent the owners of a busy restaurant across the street to fix it (though both were at work). They took turns trying, but were unable to get the AC to work. Gerard said he could come the next day, but he did not. Instead, around 6:30pm a woman named Jocelyn came over, turned on fan mode and insisted that it was AC mode (see photo). She wouldn’t listen to us and left in a huff. If the hosts had admitted that the AC didn’t work and apologized, this would be a 5 star review. Instead, they were defensive and confrontational. Because of the intense heat on the top floor, the 3rd bedroom was unusable and I had to sleep on the couch (which was not a sofa bed, as advertised). We never did meet Gerard or receive any check-out instructions or apology. Besides the very poor communication of the hosts, the place was clean, well-located, and well-appointed.
We came to Sarlat for a culinary experience - eating and cooking regional foods. The home has a great kitchen with commercial features (pasta waterbath, deep fryer, nice induction stove and oven, microwave, many appliances including kitchen aid mixer with some attachments for grating and sausage making, good blenders, lots of pots and pans) and is located right on the route of the Wed and Sat markets. We loved shopping for local ingredients and making french cuisine every day. Just walk out the door and everything is at your fingertips. Very nice owners who manage the shop below the home.
The apartment is above the owners' shop just inside the old town so it's perfect for the restaurants and strolling through the cobbled streets of Sarlat. The rooms are spread over 3 floors and are very spacious and well equipped, including showers and air-con in each bedroom which worked well for us as a family of four. Monsieur and Madame Gatinel were nice hosts, meeting us on arrival, helping us unload the car and giving us tips about things to see and do locally in the Dordogne and surrounding area. Other major plus points are that the location means those arriving by car can pull in nearby for unloading and there is a private garage (height 1.90m approx.) about 50m away, which seems a rarity for Sarlat holiday accommodation and makes parking easier. Note though that the Sarlat Saturday market is a major event that closes some of the roads so that, if leaving on a Saturday morning, luggage will need carrying to the garage. As mentioned though this is not far. We had a very enjoyable holiday, Sarlat is a lovely old town and ideal base for the area, and the accommodation hit the mark. We would recommend it.
A wonderful place to stay. The hosts were very helpful, and the place was very nice. The place was an excellent base for our family to explore Dordogne.
A fabulous appointed place to stay. Professional kitchen if you like to cook. Large living room. Great location. Come for the market. Hosts are at store on street level.
Great location, really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend this apartment.
