"Lovely breakfast, lovely hotel. Minor point the bathroom in room 125 could do with a lick of paint to freshen it up but overall anyone booking this hotel will be making a good choice in a unique location "

"A Fantastic Stay – Highly Recommended! We had a wonderful experience at the Nicolaus Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt safe and well taken care of. The free shuttle from the airport was a huge plus and made our arrival stress-free. The room was spacious enough for our family, which was a pleasant surprise, and the bed was incredibly comfortable – we all slept so well. Even the little things were thoughtfully done – we absolutely loved the soap! Now, the breakfast… hands down the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. There were so many choices, from fresh fruits and pastries to hot dishes and local specialties – something for everyone, and everything was delicious. We also appreciated that there were plenty of good food options just a short walk up the road, which made dining out super convenient. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely return. Highly recommend!"

"Un hôtel digne des 4 étoiles : magnifique. Vous êtes accueilli par quelqu'un pour que vous puissiez garer votre voiture chose qui ne se retrouve que dans les 5 étoiles généralement. L'entrée est somptueuse. Le petit-déjeuner reste bon : il y a du choix en sucré mais il manque un peu au niveau salé et de la région"

"Aside from the hotel being very nice and comfortable and in a great location, unfortunately we experienced an emergency medical situation that drastically hindered my mobility. They quickly relocated us to a ground floor room as I could not traverse the stairs to our original 2nd floor room, mgmt helped my wife with the luggage while is was in ER and arranged cab service for us from hospital, to pharmacy and back to hotel. They went above and beyond in all regards. A special thanks to Denise who made things much easier for my wife while I was receiving treatment. If in Matera again I will definitely look to book."

"The property was very quiet and well hidden from three main road. Ideal for a relaxing break."

"Staying in a cave room but having an entryway in the room with windows out on the gorgeous Matera scenery is perfect. We also had a porch with chairs to sit outside. The breakfast was amazing! Fresh and delicious food served to us by the most welcoming people you could ask for, Angela and Agnese. We also had a wonderful piano player, Gianni, at breakfast every day - now that's a first for us!. If we went back to Matera, which we hope to do some day, we would stay here again. The only negative is WiFi is not reliable in our room. Unfortunately across all of southern Italy our 5g T-mobile plan didn't work either so we used physical maps. We stayed a week and so were able to see a lot of this magnificent area. Most people only stay two or three nights and I feel that is not enough. "
