Family with teens, dog friendly home
Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed this home. It is semi private w wooded area on side & back of home. The pros: close to the beach, beautiful home decor, very comfortable with lots of space. Well appointed kitchen, stereo/speakers throughout upper level(not wireless-bring CDs), whirlpool tub in large master suite. Great breeze and plenty of sitting spaces outside on decks. The community is great for walking your dog. And this house is at the end of the street- blocked to through traffic. It is located directly behind Tom Thumb, which can be a pro or con. The pro is you can walk to it and easy for us & the teen kids to go get ice cream/snacks & Redbox movies, as well as quick groceries as needed. (Also, this home is very convenient to Publix grocery, short bike or car ride down the road). We also walked to Cafe 30A for dinner. The cons to being behind the Tom Thumb is the added noise of traffic, as well as early, early morning garbage dumpster pick up- loud. The area is wooded behind the house, so you don't "see" Tom Thumb very well, but you can hear activity there during busy times if you are seated outside or inside when the house is quiet(ie early morn garbage). Cons: the upstairs and downstairs are separate. Our 2 teen aged children & our 11 year old stayed down. My husband and I stayed up. We were comfortable with this because the kids were older, but it is something a renter would need to understand. Anytime the children wanted to join us in the den, for meals or hanging out, they had to come up an outside staircase. We brought our pet. Since this is a pet friendly home, we would recommend that the owner build a locked gate on the second floor deck so that your pet can roam freely. There was a "mobile" gate provided that was not fully functioning, taped in several areas. We rigged it/improvised but it required us to step over the gate everytime we went down the steps, avoiding the idea of having to "redo" the gate each time. Fun stuff: We rented bikes, & only on a few occasions did we get in our car to go anywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise Easter service at Ed Walline State Park, near Gulf Place. We cooked in mostly. Biked through Watercolor/Seaside. Spent lots of time relaxing @ home & on the beach. This home is very convenient to all you might want to see or do on 30A (by bike or car). I would recommend to a friend, but I would point out all of the above so they would have an informed decision. Great location, great sunsets & white sand.
