They didnt want to honor our expedia price since they changed ownership. Made us wait till 3 for check in even though room then readyThen took 20 additional minutes to gain approval for rate and only granted when I said I wanted to cancel. No towels in our room. Clean but needs updated.

Very disappointing stay!

The web site is very misleading! If you think your stay is comparable to any hotel/motel with housekeeping services, I can guarantee that you will be sadly disappointed! I rented an apartment suite x 1 wk that was dusty upon arrival. The majority of the front desk staff were not customer friendly and lacked hospitality skills. I was expecting per the website to have a sofa bed or rollaway bed which was not available! I put dirty towels and a garbage bag outside my door which was there x 3 days! Totally unacceptable! I was told on 3 different occasions that my room would be tended … NEVER HAPPENED! I have come to understand that these units are individually owned and I needed to bring my own linens and paper products…I’m sure you’ll agree that this is ridiculous! I’ve been visiting Port Clinton x 35 yrs… I will emphatically say that the Island House Hotel is not a desirable place to stay! You will not get what you think you’re willing to pay. The owner was not accommodating to my request for a discount for the total lack of service!

The hotel was dated and the room could of been cleaner. Check in was a mess. One room booked but had me listed for 2 rooms. Fearful for being charged for a second room I did not request. Staff are not very friendly. We were in and out of the hotel several times over the 4 days and no one greeted us, in any way. Was told nothing about the hotel. Had to request the wifi password. The hotel is listed as having an onsite restaurant and bar. When I asked the hours was told, "there closed because they just bought it". Not sure who they is but there listing needs updated as this was a huge disappointment. We booked the hotel for the onsight convenience. Coffee pot in room was so dirty we could not use it. The complimentary body wash and shampoo was very watered down. Be sure to bring our own. I would not book here again

I absolutely love this property. This was my 3rd time staying here, Staff is always welcoming and knowledgeable on the history. Is location is great, Directly across from the jet express ferry, Great little bars and eateries on the same road. In the past times I have stayed Here, The restaurant and bar inside Was open. This most recent trip it was not. Overall it's a great place to stay if you're visiting the islands.

Nice Quiet Place

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was under new ownership so there were some minor issues, but everything got fixed. The website lists it as a luxury hotel though and I would not call it that. It's nice enough, but not luxury by any means. Website also listed an onsite restaurant, but it was not opened yet. I feel the website should have reflected this. Coffee available to make for yourself in the room, but none in the lobby. Overall, it was a nice, clean quiet place with friendly people.

1) We were checked into the wrong room. The door had a key pad which the other rooms did not. We returned to the front desk and we were given a different room. 2) The room was not properly made up. There was a previously used towel hanging on the bathroom door. 3) There was no coffee for the coffee maker. 4) This hotel has almost no amenities. The bar and restaurant were closed.

Biggest week of birding at Island House Hotel

We have been to Port Clinton many times for birding. We usually stay down the street but have always wanted to try this hotel. I understand that the hotel is historic and dated. The issues I experienced were I really missed somewhere else to sit in the room besides the bed. The refrigerator and microwave are nice in the room but not when the only place to eat is in the bed. We were also disappointed the restaurant was no longer there and no coffee or tea in the lobby. COVID has changed a lot of things but this hotel is probably not for us. The staff was friendly and our room was clean

This is an old hotel with a charming lobby that has interesting photos on the wall. Our room was small with little extra space for storing luggage. No desk. Would have liked a grabbing bar in the tub to help get in and out. Liked the high ceilings. Light on one side of bed only. Not surprisingly for the age of the building, limited outlets which made charging phones and computers an issue. Despite these shortcomings, staff was friendly and helpful and we liked being able to walk from hotel to various restaurant options for an evening meal.

Computer issues handled beautifully!

There was a computer glitch with the keycard machine but the desk clerk went out of her way to make it right. Probably the best customer service I have ever received at a hotel!
