Excellent hotel to wind down after a long Borneo holiday. Great staff very helpful Lovely surrounds, It was an experience to swim with the local family of monitor lizards in the pool Very enjoyable

Sabah hotel was clean and confortable. The staff was friendly the food was tasty. I ejoyed a relaxing massage and enjoyed the appearance of a large water monitor at the pool. I also appreciate that my western style bathing suit was foundto be acceptable attire. Unfortunately, though I was looking forward to the lamb barbecue on Saturday that very day when I asked about the extra activity near the pool, the staff told me that the barbecue was cancelled and the kitchen was closed to to a wedding event scheduled at the hotel. It would have been ice to be reffered to another restaurant rather thankust be be told yhat the desert and alcohol bar would be open.

Comfortable and excellent ambience

Lovely hotel, colonial feel and steeped in history. Very comfortable and spacious room, lovely swimming pool and pool bar area. Good choice of food for breakfast. The hotel is surrounded by trees and plants giving a rural and quiet location dispite the main town being just 1km away.

A lovely, comfortable hotel with spacious rooms. The staff is very friendly and willing to help in whatever you need. Good breakfast included and the hotel has a good Chinese restaurant.

Essence and flavour of Sabah.

Great hotel encompassing the essence and flavours of Sabah. Rooms are spacious and the hotel is close to both the airport and town. All of the staff do an excellent job and are to be commended for their dedication and commitment to guests and the hotel.

Need to update electrical outlets for travellers with cellphones and other devices that need recharging daily. We can only found one outlet that worked in our room. One day we were left with only half a roll of toilet paper for two which’s impossible .

As a family of two adults and one child (9yrs) we had a great time at Sabah Hotel. Although the hotel and rooms are starting to look a little tired and smell a bit musty they were a really goodsl size and we had our rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels etc. My daughter absolutely loved the pool and slide and it was a great place for us to relax in between our travels around Malaysia, Borneo and Singapore. We used this hotel as a base for seeing the orangutans at Sepilok and also a night on Selingan island to see the turtles lay eggs and to release babies back into the sea- both of which were incredible experiences and I highly recommend!! We used Grab taxis to get around the town. Not an awful lot to do in the town itself. The hotel is on a hill from the main town and as the temps were 30/32 degrees most days it would have been too hot to walk it. Grabs are convenient and cheap and we also did a load of washing at the laundromat in the town. The staff were all so friendly, smiley, welcoming and attentive. They all seem to really care about the hotel and making sure your experience is great. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Nice but ... no thanks

While this hotel is nice enough, the reality is that its 1.7km from the nearest eateries/shopping, and the facilities it offers in-house are sadly lacking. We went to breakfast at 9.30am on our first morning and there was hardly anything left. We blamed ourselves for being late, so went at 8.30am the following morning - same situation! The food was not replenished at all, however the serving spoons and their dishes were, even though the Bain Maries were empty! The pool is great but you are hard pushed to get any service at all. Cold drinks must be purchased from the upstairs cafe, which has limited opening hours. The staff were great, there is a money exchange facility (typically awful rate) however no tourist information available at all. I believe we were lucky to jag a renovated room on the 8th floor, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel, nor would I stay there again.

We enjoyed our one night stay here. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We arrived before check in so our room was not yet ready but we were able to leave bags with reception and go to the pool area. Our room was large and spacious, it had been cleaned however the bathroom smelt and when we awoke the next day there were lots of flies in the shower, bath and on our towel. The pool was great, a large pool with two smaller ones. The main issue outside is the lack of sun beds for everyone and some of the sun beds and tables being broken. We ate lunch at the restaurant which was tasty and ordered room service for dinner which was also tasty. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful - especially the omelette and pancakes were tasty! We did not leave the hotel so cannot comment on the surrounding area. We got a grab to the airport which was around a 20 minute drive. Would recommend for a short stay.
