Beach getaway
We just spent 4 nights at Sunset Beach. Manolo was waiting for us at the airport, which was very helpful. Juan Carlos met us at the condo and explained everything to us. He is very friendly. It was a definite bonus to be able to ask him questions. He arranged our Suya Tour of snorkeling and Caye Caulker. We would highly recommend! Guilllermo and his brother were wonderful tour guides. I felt very safe and comfortable with them for the day. Chapin is the maintenance guy and he is always around too. He was out working on the pool by 6am every day. The unit is quiet and a nice space for a family or group and the decor is tastefully beachy. Because it was the off season there weren't many restaurants open nearby. A golf cart was a must. Juan Carlos took care of arranging that for us as well. The view and beach access are excellent. The dock is great and there is good snorkeling right from the dock. Our teens enjoyed the kayaks and especially the clear bottom raft to see the fish.
There were 2 things that we wish were better: the wifi is weak. As it was the low season, there were only a couple of other guests. I can't imagine what it would be Iike when it's busy. There were a number of times it was too slow to even check our emails. To be fair, I think some of that is simply wifi in Belize. But, this could be a problem if you require wifi while you're visiting.
The second thing we didn't like was the a/c. When we arrived at the condo it was 81 degrees inside -really warm! After a long, hot day of travel, we were expecting it to be more comfortable. They have a screw in the thermostat preventing you from setting it where you want. It was never cooler than 78 degrees inside. This was borderline uncomfortable - our house is always at 72 degrees. We slept with the stand fan blowing directly on us. It's ok but we were expecting it to be better.
All in all, we would stay again. The views and beach access make for a fantastic beach getaway. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's quiet and felt safe.
