The true test of a good host, to me, is how things are handled when issues occur. After a long stressful trip, we learned before coming there was a problem with the AC, but they were working on it. It turned out to need a new motor, and there was no available motor on the island. We spent the first night without air. Even that couldn’t make me take a star away, because the communication was amazing. Things break, it happens. The very kind local man working on the issue, Jose, told me that the host was so concerned about getting the air up and running that when the host learned they’d located the right motor on the mainland, he insisted it was flown, as opposed to put on the ferry, to the island. We had ac the next day, and honestly.. sleeping with the doors open and the wind blowing in off the ocean was a neat experience. A bit sticky and sweaty, but neat. :) The beach was clean and almost always empty- just people walking dogs here and there. The sargassum was bad the first few days and there was a smell- again, not something anyone can control, but the view and privacy is so spectacular it really didn’t detract from the experience. The property is located away from the main part of town, so it’s nice and quiet. We loved the restaurant right across the street. The amenities were plentiful and made for all the comforts of home. We will absolutely be back. If you’re on the fence about booking here, hop off and just book it- you won’t be sorry.
