"The food was why I took off a star. Buffet same every day and not all That appealing but the reserve sushi and especially the Italian was dreadful. The Italian was below average ranging to actually not edible. From crunchy gnocchi soup to stale sprinkle on mushy tiramisu. Not good at all. Don't do it if you are going to serve tiny portions that are gross."

"I just can't stress enough how wonderful this place is. We absolutely loved it. The bungalows are gorgeous (and air conditioned!). They are incredibly comfortable and spacious. The pool is great and the beach is AMAZING. The food at the restaurant was EXCELLENT. We had a wide variety for both lunch and dinner and just loved it. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. We had to leave early and they packed us a fruit / yogurt / granola bowl for each person in our party. After having mediocre experiences elsewhere, this location was a breath of fresh air. Thank you for helping us end our vacation on a VERY high note!"

"The property, which is in a natural preserve, needs better upkeep. The rooms are dated and our bathroom had lots of mold, which is totally unacceptable. Also, the rooms are spread all around the property through trails and you go up and down the mountain to reach them. This, in the suffocating heat and humidity, is exhausting. There is no A/C anywhere in the property except the bedrooms. The restaurant is ok, but again: no A/C, limited options. The one shining pearl in all this was the SPA. I had a relaxing massage with Fanny, which was fantastic."

"Good ac. Lots of ants in room and bathroom. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Owner and his wife very nice and helpful. Dirt Road to town is hilly and full of pothole. Some Ubers won’t go up to the hotel. "

"Everything at Capitan Suizo was amazing. Perfect location on the beach. Stayed in bungalow with beautiful garden views. Beds very comfortable. Outdoor shower took a little getting used to but after a couple of days my girls and I enjoyed listening to the sounds of Howler monkeys and birds while showering. Breakfast was delicious and we ate outside watching the ocean every morning. We would lay out in the lounge chairs under a little shade steps away from the ocean and from the restaurant/bar. When we weren’t on the beach we swam in the pool which was super clean. Had a full body massage one day at the spa which was incredible. Went back to spa on another day for a collagen facial. All the staff were so gracious and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. If you are coming to Tamarindo, you will thank yourself for staying here!"

"Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotels beach was not really kid friendly, or even adult friendly. (at least not for me) There was no space to put our towels and beach accessories. We walked about 5 extra minutes to get to the other side of the beach, which was in front of another hotel and it was a little nicer there. There was a beach about 5 min away (by car), from the hotel (Playa Carillo), and it was BEAUTIFUL! Brian, the manager was so kind to give us a ride in his personal car because my daughters foot was injured and we couldn't walk there. There were some foods that we ordered that were subpar, but there were some foods that were absolutely delicious (the fish, burger, ceviche). I really enjoyed the fish !! The drinks (virgin, and alcoholic) were so refreshing and yummy. I loved every single one that they would make for me. The breakfast was okay. The French toast was yummy and the fruits were fresh and juicy. The staff was super accommodating and everything was pretty clean. If you ask me, id recommend that they get a gold cart or similar, to get to a from the beach on site. (but maybe I'm just lazy). Their shuttle service was punctual, and clean. The excursions are pretty close (about 5 to 10 min away), and they were amazing ! All in all , it was an awesome trip/stay. I would definitely go back."
