"Love this place but I really wish they would have better food. Everything is covered in cheese or mayo and everything is gluten free. I tend to limit my stays to one or two nights max at a time because I get hungry."

"We loved our stay at this property, we were shown around by Angie who seemed to be the animal whisperer. Wherever we went we saw all sorts of animals, monkeys, sloths, toucans, humming birds and so many more. It’s a beautiful paradise and we loved every minute we had here. We were sad to have to move on when we did. Thankyou so much for looking after us so well."

Malekus Mountain Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"Best Stay of Our Costa Rica Trip — Malekus Mountain Lodge This was, hands down, the best place we stayed during our 10 days in Costa Rica. Not only is the property itself beautiful, but we had the pleasure of being the only guests, so Roger and Rosy treated us like family. They helped us shape our itinerary to have a more authentic, local experience, and honestly ended up defining our whole trip. The rooms were comfortable — we had the one with a double bed plus a separate room with a bunk bed, and the windows looked right out onto the garden. There's a big pool, an open-air breakfast area, and a living room where we got to catch the FIFA soccer games in the evenings. The property itself is huge. Right in the "backyard," Roger and Rosy suggested a hike that starts at a beautifully arranged fish pond — the kind of spot where you could easily spend an afternoon reading or doing yoga. Keep going and the trail leads to two miradores, one overlooking the mountains and the other a lake. If you're up for something more adventurous, loop back through the mountain trail — it genuinely feels like something out of a survival TV show, walking through tropical plants, animal sounds all around, crossing water on wooden plank paths. It was the most authentic hike of our entire trip. Thank you, Roger and Rosy, for such a special experience at Malekus Mountain Lodge — we can't recommend it enough."

"We had a fantastic time! Orlando (the owner), his family, and all of the staff were so kind and welcoming! We really enjoyed the thermal longevity circuit, plus we went tubing down the river which was a blast too! On day 2 we did the cultural coffee, chocolate, tortilla demonstration and we also went on a short hike through the trail where Orlando helped us spot a sloth! We had the pizza at the resort the first night, so then we wanted to try out some authentic Costa Rican and he was able to give us a fantastic recommendation for dinner, plus even spoke with the owner of the restaurant to let him know we were headed his way! Overall, all amazing experience, I could go on forever about how much we enjoyed ourselves, highly highly recommend!"
