Bed and Breakfast in San Jose

"This hotel has a great beach location. Although we couldn't go into the ocean because of jellyfish allegedly. The sea is best for surfing and water sports not so much relaxing. Pools were fine. The rooms were in need of repairs, first room we found mold and they didn't move us until the next day. Second room was better but showers were leaking, air conditioner smelt of mildew. There is only one restaurant and the food was good but the service was slow, the server had to come back many times to re-take our order. Generally staff was friendly. due to the rooms I wouldn't stay here again, I would probably rent an Air B&B in the area instead next time."

"Guys, please don't stay there, it was the worst hotel I've stayed at in my life. It took me 4 hours to get there from the airport, when my friend and I arrived at the hotel, the room was dirty, stain on the sheets, and the bathroom was a mess. Although the staff was very sweet, and they changed my room, I didn't have a good time during my stay, the hotel falsely advertises itself as a luxurious resort, however, it is not that!!!"

"Do not count on having a room if you book this place as there is no one around to help and trying to contact anyone is next to impossible. The first night when we got to the room it was not made up. There were no sheets, no towels and no one around the property to help us. We sent messages and tried calling and every other way to contact the owner or manager but got no reply. Finally after almost 3 hours someone brought sheets for us. The owners offered a $25 refund, but after a month we have still not seen any refund. We were there 2 nights and the second night some other people arrived at dark looking for their room. Again there was no one to help them and the room they were given was occupied by someone else. They eventually had to leave and try and find another room somewhere else. There is also no phone service in the area so you have to somehow get wi-fi or drive several miles up the road to use the phone. Not worth the hassle, book somewhere else."

"excellent breakfast every day and varied menu. nice room, had a a fridge and coffee maker, sitting area and very clean pool. walkable to beach and few restaurants - beach was very nice. "

"Brand new property with clean spacious rooms. Ample storage in the room and large bathroom with walk in shower and Molton brown toiletries. There was complimentary bottled water although the tap water is safe to drink, and 6 complimentary coffee pods a day. The yoga instructor was excellent and the yoga was complimentary 9am Thursday to Monday on a roof terrace on the spa. There is a roof terrace bar with amazing views of the surrounding mountains with complimentary drinks for guests each evening 5pm to 7pm which was a really nice touch. All the staff are professional and friendly. The breakfasts are excellent quality and lots of variety. The dinners in the terra vegetarian restaurant and tempo restaurants were excellent quality. We didn’t eat in fuego so can’t comment on that. The food prices are at the higher end but all great quality. We paid around $70-80 for 2 people for 2 courses each and 1 drink each. Our only criticism was the room rate included breakfast however we were charged extra ($30 for 2) for a takeout breakfast on the day we had an early pick up for a trip out with a guide which was a bit steep given the room rate. There were lots of birds in the area and the hotel could attract many to the gardens/grounds if the hummingbird feeders were regularly replenished (they were practically empty our full 5 day stay). A suggestion would be to use up any left over fruit such as papaya or banana to set up a feeding station for wild birds in the hotel gardens "
