We got two rooms, a city Tower view room and a water view Tower room. The water view room when we walked in had a strong smell of crap with tons of disinfectant that didn’t really abate. Room service was not as good as years past (latte was watery, cookies and pancakes very bready) and some of the furniture was showing heavy signs of wear, which added a touch of shabbiness to a typically lovely hotel. The hot chocolate in Santa’s Village was also no way near as good as years past. Previously, the chocolate was super rich, thick and velvety. This year, it was similar to instant (watery). We still love the Fairmont and hope this year was just a hiccup and that our next four years will be on par with our prior stays.
