Hotel Riu Palace Pacifico - Adults Only - All Inclusive
2/10 Terrible
"Well, I’ll start with the pros.
The hotel and staff are great.
Now, I’m assuming they must have paid for any reviews that say the food is 5 stars. First thing I tried:
The outdoor “tiki taco” serves stale chips and shriveled-up hot dogs and something resembling a taco tasted so bad everything out there the cheese stuff for the nachos tasted like bargain brand artificial gross
I figured that the steak restaurant would be good; you needed to come early and wait in line, so it has to be yummy, I thought. Wrong; they started it off with some stale bread in a cast iron dish.
Tasted like Wonderbread that was left open for a few days. The steak and shriveled-up French fries were so disappointing; both of our steaks were overcooked and tough.
I thought, “OK, maybe they can only do Mexican food well,” so when we woke up, we tried the breakfast buffet. Kinda like a hometown buffet but with worse food.
The worst part was the Mexican food; I’m from Arizona and love Mexican food, and this was just “glop.” They don’t even have tortillas; that’s not a joke; seriously, they don’t have tortillas at the buffet.
There is nowhere else to eat close to the hotel, so you are stuck with it unless you Uber to town. No hot tub.
Also, they have a separate bar and areas for people who pay for the elite club. I’m glad I didn’t pay for it because it’s all the same food.
The pizza in the buffet is the same as the busted Italian restaurant. The hotel is beautiful, but the food is so bad.

"Cleanliness 12/10
Location 10/10
Room 10/10
Beach 10/10
Food 6/10
Drinks 9/10
Staff 9.5/10
Not sure why there were things not included in the all-inclusive package. You have to read the fine print (ice cream not included!) Also there was no dish, dishwasher or laundry soap. On the bright side there is a mall and grocery store just outside the gate. Food was ok, but most ppl order lunch from the beach bar so it gets quite backed up. The wait staff are great, as is the beach, the hotel and the rooms. "
"Terrible experience— I booked a non-refundable room for three nights but left after the first night to stay elsewhere. The beautiful restaurant and pool I remember from staying there in the past is gone, and in its place there is a new building under construction. It’s very difficult to walk around the property due to that and other construction. There was a special dinner event we weren’t told about. When we checked it out, we were told it was only for those who had the all-inclusive plan though the sign nearby clearly said we could pay for dinner to join in. The experience felt so condescending, we found somewhere else to eat. The live music from the party, while excellent, was so loud that we couldn’t go to sleep at a reasonable hour-so much for family friendly. The pools were dirty. Just not a place I would ever revisit or recommend. "
"Beautiful big pools with great activities staff. Entertainment was fun, great food, especially the taco bar on the beach, French restaurant in the train car and the Mexican and Japanese restaurants. Main buffet was varied and excellent as well. Bar service on the beach, Beautiful marble in the main building. We loved our junipr suite with beach view - jad an outdoor seating area and two lounge chairs, and a 10 meter walk out to the beach! Onsite diveshop as well. Skip the Iberostar sales pitch."
