The Escape was very private and roomy! Very well maintained and supplied. We loved sitting outside in one of the covered porches. My daughter discovered the Merlin app and was able to find 18 different birds one morning. Great experience. We would definitely book again. It's hard to find a place that fits our family of ten so well, but there was a space for everyone!

The house is beautiful and very well kept. It is extremely spacious and was a perfect fit for our group of 10. Communication with the owners was very good and they were prompt in responding to any inquiry we had.They have a book with various suggestions of places to eat & things to do in the area. We were blown away by this rental. We came as a large family with our kids to have Thanksgiving, and were completely comfortable. Also it is just picturesque and so beautiful. The cabin was just as described and wonderful for our group. What made this cabin better than some of the others we've stayed in were the little touches and details that were added to make your stay easier. The road to the cabin is lined with lights which makes it easier at night. The amenities within the cabin were nice, things not normally seen in other cabins. The cabin was ready for us, snow was removed from the walkway and the heat was on when we arrived. I would stay here again and our team agreed. Highly recommend this cabin. It is located near the town of Saluda and only a few minutes away from Hendersonville if you need a bigger town.

Great 100th bday celebration

After negotiating the effects of Hurricane Helene, we were so happy our stay in “The Escape” worked out! The house was perfect for our family of five siblings and spouses celebrating together what would have been our Dad’s 100th birthday. The house was awesome, everyone had their own bedroom and bath and having two living room spaces and two refrigerators really added to the comfort. The parking area was very spacious, and the fire pit with a lot of wood stacked up certainly added to our fun. Thx for a memorable weekend!

Perfect for a family gathering!

The Escape was exactly as billed! Beautiful, secluded, spacious, clean and perfect for group. My family gathered there for my son’s wedding at the picturesque Glassy Chapel. There was plenty of room for socializing, and eating, but the size and location of the bedrooms, two living room and outdoor deck spaces allowed for smaller group activities and personal space. Four couples can all have a suite and the kids and/ or teens can have the 2nd floor loft rooms with a full bath to share. The main and lower half baths were also conveniently located. The large home is accommodating, yet very cozy. Saluda is a very quaint small town with a variety of shops and restaurants, but everything closes up pretty early. Fortunately, we planned to mostly cook in and everything we needed was there.

Great House and location

This is the third time I have stayed at this house. It is great as far as the space and it is in a secluded location. I wish there was a pool table or other game tables in the basement. A hot tub would also make this house perfect. I must say the kitchen needs a deep cleaning - the counters were very dirty and the stove and back splash were nasty. The dishes had been put in the cabinet dirty (coffee cups had coffee residue like they had been used and just put away). The large sofa needs to be cleaned or replaced also, otherwise the property was clean. We really like this house and would stay again, hopefully if some much needed maintenance was done.

Old Friends Annual Mountain Weekend

The Escape was fantastic, looks and feels new, grounds are well kept, ample parking space, kitchen is well equipped, as is the entire home, accommodated our group of six guys comfortably, and we’ll be back. It was perfect for six old friends who get together annually, and have known each other for 45+ years. The fire pit was great for late night music & conversation, there was a perfect spot for some ultra competitive corn-hole during the day, and the basement was ideal and set up beautifully for a Saturday full of college football. Over the years, we’ve stayed in homes from Bryson City NC to Lake Lure, but none have been any better than The Escape in Saluda NC. Our group unanimously voted to return next year. Beautiful home BUT……..

This home is beautiful and in a great location BUT….. we walked into this home and at first sight we were in love. They left a bottle of wine and two wine glasses on the counter for us but unfortunately it was set on top of a pile of crumbs probably left from the prior guests. We opened the refrigerator to put our food away and it was filthy. Our first night we were preparing dinner and when we opened drawers looking for cooking utensils we noticed mouse droppings. We took everything out and put in dishwasher. The next morning when preparing to make breakfast we opened the drawers to again find mouse droppings. Mouse droppings were also found in a bed and on lower level floors. Upon leaving we notified the property manager about this and got NO RESPONSE. So as long as cleanliness is not important to you this is a great home.

Great Family Time in the Mountains

The Escape was a great size house for our adult family of 10. Having multiple “master suites” was perfect for our 4 adult couples. The twin beds turned out to be very small for our large college-age boys, but they made it work. We did not really make use of the large downstairs family room, but loved having the 2nd full refrigerator to store food and drinks. Our together time was spent in the upstairs family room connected to the kitchen.The overhead lighting in the large family room is not enough - a couple of lamps would really help. Also the kitchen is very dark. Undercounter lighting would really be helpful. We enjoyed grilling out, and made use of all three porches. This is not a mountain house with a view. If it is isolation in a wooded area, this is the place for you. The gravel road to get to the house is very steep and slippery . . . you definitely need a running start! But it is a very comfortable and beautiful house, and it is well stocked with all that you need. We made some great family memories. The house is also conveniently located very close to town, and an easy drive to the Green River, where we enjoyed a full day of kayaking.
