Awful communication, my first bad review
Communication and preparedness of this host was very poor. I harangued the host both on VRBO messages for days leading up to our scheduled arrival and finally, after messaging over text at 9:30pm the night before (after seeking assistance from VRBO support, who also couldn't get ahold of them), got a text back with check-in info. Upon arrival, I'm not sure if either it is a new listing or a rental that isn't going to be available for much longer/ is being decommissioned, but it was clear that not much attention was paid to the property or guest amenities. There was barely any toilet paper (in a home with five bathrooms!), no hand soap or trash cans in some baths, only a few sparse bath towels (in a home advertised as for 10 people) and no hand towels, and no towels or paper towels in the kitchen. Several beds only had a flat sheet and there were no spare blankets anywhere either. I messaged the host (both on VRBO and via text) after our first night to ask for these things (as we were running out of toilet paper...) and received a text back "Ok thank you let me work on this" and then never another word the rest of the stay and nothing was ever provided. On our second day, there was a notice from the City on the door that the water bill was unpaid and would be shut off the following Monday... overall just felt like something was "up" with this rental, and it wasn't ready for guests. Very weird, despite being a super cool property with great character that we loved otherwise.
