8/10 Good
"We had a wonderful week in La Romieu and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The location is beautiful: peaceful, full of character and surrounded by stunning countryside. La Romieu and nearby places such as Condom are well worth exploring. The property is fantastic for a large group. There were 28 of us and we made some brilliant memories here. The pool, outdoor space and setting make it a very special place. There are some areas for improvement. Our main concern was damaged tiles around the pool, which we discussed with the owner and were told would be repaired. Some sun loungers would also be a welcome addition. There were a few minor maintenance issues, but nothing that spoiled our holiday. Our main disappointment came after leaving. We received upsetting messages about cleaning and were initially told we had not paid the 280 cleaning fee. Our receipt confirmed we had, which the owner later acknowledged. We accept guests should leave a property respectfully and genuinely believed we had done so. With 28 people staying for a week, a few minor things may have been overlooked, but clearer departure instructions would have avoided much of the misunderstanding. To her credit, the owner acknowledged communication could have been clearer. Also check bedding and towel arrangements before travelling, as these cost extra.Overall, a beautiful property in a wonderful part of France. With improved communication and some maintenance, this would have been a 10/10 stay."

Charming 70m2 villa with private pool

Charming 70m2 villa with private pool

8/10 Good
"The house was lovely, the pool was clean and well maintained, the garden was tidy, and the view over the vineyards was beautiful. The 3 bedrooms downstairs have an air con unit outside which kept them cool in the heat. Lovely rooms and comfortable beds. The 4th bedroom is upstairs and has the pool table in it. Sadly, the air con unit for this room doesn't work so we weren't able to use it as in the middle of summer as it was far too hot. There is everything you could think of provided for the kitchen, towels, and bed linen. (Sadly, this did leave very little room for clothes storage in the wardrobes.) You could easily feed 14 round the huge dining table! The pictures don't really do the house justice as it is spacious and airy. Sitting on the veranda was really relaxing; hardly any noise or traffic, just peace and quiet. And it was perfect for our 2 small dogs. The fully enclosed garden meant they could be free to go wherever they wanted. The local villages and towns are easily accessible by car and the roads are good.Sadly the WiFi was not working while we were there. With 2 teenagers and some work to do, it cost us a fortune in data :-(Michel doesn't speak English, but Google is a marvel for these situations! You will need a 500 Euro cash deposit, which is returned on leaving as long as you have cleaned. We had a lovely 2 weeks and with the air con upstairs and the Wifi working, it would have been perfect."

"The hotel was a great place to meet up with a friend for a couple of nights. Their restaurant offered a good selection for dinner and both of our meals were very tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast was also economical and offered breads, yogurt, meats, cheeses, and fruit along with very good coffee. Our room was comfortable and clean with excellent bedding and comfortable beds. I also appreciated having a mini fridge and a water kettle in the room. The staff was very helpful in letting us know that hotel guests got free entry to the beaches and discounts on kayak or SUP rentals. We were right across from a little lake with nice beaches, a waterfront restaurant where we ate one night and a great ice cream shop. There is also a campground/cottage resort nearby where morning yoga was offered and a small open air market was held. It was a very good experience."

"Check in was great - room was OK but with a view on a wall …. The dining closes between 14h30 and 19h30 which didn’t fit in with people walking the Camino (par for the course in France we have come to learn). Overall though, good place to stay - and a few minutes walk to centre town. "
