Nous avons beaucoup apprécié dormir dans cet ancien couvent, plein de charme et de caractère. La réception était à l'écoute. Toutefois, nous avons trouvé peu de restaurants ouverts dans le village (février).

Unique and full of character
The hotel has a lot of character as it is was a 13th Convent is built next to an amazing Abbey. If you are fan of Game of Thrones, you would expect Cersi Lannister to appear at any time. On the down side, there are few facilities in the rooms ( no kettle just a tv ) and there is no air con, but to be honest , I didn’t suffer for it .( and it was about 35’c while I was there ) The town is small but friendly and has a few bars in the town square. I don’t know if you could stay there for a long vacation, but definitely a long romantic weekend.

We got the room with total different from the photo on Hotel.com and we can’t accept that as the room looks terrible no aircondition and the window can’t be open. We went out and bought another hotel which was very expensive as walk in price. It was such a terrible experience of us, I would recommend everyone to book suit room or another hotel should be a better choice.

Amazing hotel, restaurant less so
The old abbey is an amazing setting for a hotel. The building is full of atmosphere and charm, in particular the beautiful cloister. We booked a “Tradition” room. It was small but cosy with a modern bathroom. Don’t bother with the restaurant or the bar. Neither the food nor the atmosphere (despite the amazing setting) deserves recommendation. Not what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. There are several other restaurants in the village.

Very charming hotel near St Maximin Basilica
This is the ideal place to stay in St. Maximin! Full of character, history and right next to the St Magdalene Basilica. If you're on a spiritual journey, you couldn't feel happier with your choice!

Disappointed that the room in the online picture does not reflect the actual room. After booking months ahead from the US, the week before our trip from Washington DC, we received a message to move our planned reservation date due to a large party. Due to this large party and insufficient staffing we couldn't even eat at their pub. This place is very out of the way, and very few restaurants nearby. However the building structure and grounds are dreamlike if you like staying in castles, especially this one attached to a cathedral, which to our surprise, houses the crypt of Mary Magdalene.

Incredible experience!
This hotel is a unique experience that’s unforgettable! Connected to the local basilica, you couldn't ask for a more dreamy experience of France. The history of the place is alive within the corridors and guest rooms. The staff was lovely and great local restaurants & shops are right outside the doors. The visitors center is also connected to the property with helpful information. The courtyard & restaurant are absolutely beautiful! I will stay again without a doubt.

Find a different hotel
If you are traveling with a friend you're put in a small room. The beds are very low to the ground and cave in the center of the bed. When discussing the beds with management they said it was typical for the beds. Not good, left the hotel early drove to another town where the hotel beds were wonderful. Would not recommend or stay there if you need a room with 2 beds. There was an expo there so enjoying the beautiful courtyard area was not possible

Nice historical hotel
The hotel is very historical & situated in a small quiet town, easy to find & quick access to the motorway, the staff was very helpful & friendly too. However, the room itself was a bit basic & dated, specially the bathroom. Due to its an old building, no aircon was installed in the room, although fan was provided, but still too warm for the Summer in South France. No water is provided and there are not many shops around in the small town.

Really nice hotel, though not perfect
Lovely hotel, spacious, clean and gorgeous building. There was no tea/coffee making facility in the room, but maybe there generally isn't in French hotels? We also wished it was closer to the coast. It is in a nice little town, but not a lot to do there. We would still recommend this hotel though.

Simple but comfortable room that overlooked the cloister. Night staff was so helpful for transportation problems when we arrived late and found bus schedules and arranged taxis for us. Not easy to get to via public transport . Breakfast pain du chocolat was very fresh! Wish we had more than a one night stay.

A nice place with a lot going on.
the Hotel was easy to find in the centre of town, The building is very impressive the rooms were ok if a little basic,The Hotel is used for business meetings/events so people mostly seem to stay 1/2 nights,The staff were helpful and pleasant enough, car parking was 10 euros pr night breakfast 15 euros, A busy town with good restaurants and shops just a walk away Good access to main roads A8 motorway,A small but worthwhile point you do get a wake up call from the bells of the Basillica every morning,Cars can be left in public parking areas not to far away, overall a nice enough place to stay

Beautiful hotel situated in former convent
This was one of the nicest hotels I stayed at in France. Unfortunately, the hotel is off the beaten path, you have to pay for parking and the front-desk staff was extremely unhelpful, but the hotel itself is quite lovely with wonderful views. At night, the grounds were lit-up, resulting in a beautiful, romantic setting. I would definitely stay here again.

Great experience to stay at a former convent
it is an experience to stay in a former convent. This is a reasonable priced hotel with it's feature of having a great history and stunning medieval time building. Mary Magdalene's remains are in the basilica right next door. The hotel itself is simple and modest furnished which makes it a 3 star hotel - however the stunning building with it's arcades is something to experience! Restaurante has nice food and gives you a romantic feeling.

An experience that will never be forgotten
We stayed for one night only as we were passing by but the experience was excelent. The restaurant has a very good Chef and the chateau is a very cosy accommodation for spending even more nights. The basilica is 3 minutes away and the architecture is impressive also the mass held on the 15 th of August.

Convent in centre of Old Town.
They hadn't received our booking. Thankfully, I had printed out my own. We were therefore not expected. We were sent to a room, (with large heavy bags), that had not been cleaned, and had to be found another. Finally, sorted. Evening meal made available by choice of 3 or 4 restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast taken in amazing gothic hall. Food ok, but location spectacular. Truly! On payment, they waived the breakfast cost. Worth a visit.

A Very French Retreat
The hotel was built in the 12th century and had beautiful old doors, stone or tile floors, and some old pieces of furniture. The cathedral windows opened and we enjoyed the singing of the birds and cooing of the doves each day. Cross ventilation, if you opened the door to the hallway and opened the hall windows, kept us cool in the evenings. The farmers market set up right out side our windows one of the days we were there. The staff doesn't speak much English and they are not personable like American staff. Our credit card would not work there so I recommend using cash to pay for the hotel. It was a real hassle and spoiled our last lovely day. We needed to leave for the airport at 4 am. and the desk help assured us that someone would be at the front desk all night. When we arrived at the front desk at 3:45 am no one was there. We had paid the night before but needed someone to unlock the gates so we could get out to our car. A sign said they were doing a walk through check and to call one of the 2 numbers listed if help was needed. No one answered either number. We rang a desk bell, hollered into the courtyard and hallways. At 4:15 am a young girl who spoke No English appeared. Thankfully, my wife's French got her to understand we needed the gates unlocked. We left with not a minute to spare. Very stressful.
