"It is a nice hotel. Some Rooms are all over the place and we had a very long convoluted walk to ours involving lots of corridors and 2 different lifts. Just a bit odd. Pool is small but very clean. Not far to wall into town. Some nice cafes and restaurants at the hotel end of town."

"When we arrived after a long hot journey I would have liked a drink and to relax Almost every table had many many glasses and bottles on them , even outside We did find a table and it was dirty I ordered food and drink and rewards app , but the young guy that served me wasn’t concentrating and I know he didn’t apply it as it was 5%dicount and he short changed me £2 I was tired and hungry I could t be bothered to argue the fact at all The room had a very funny smell smelt like dog ( not sure they allow ) , the only window was the bathroom , not nice at all"

"Friendly staff at check in. Given a piece of paper per room for times of pool etc … does this change frequently? not very environmentally friendly to print it out each time for each room. Went to use pool and sauna etc to hear one of the staff moaning that a child had poo’ed in the children’s pool and it was now out of action and on top of that the steam room had packed up and no staff. We did use the adult pools and sauna which were fine. We did not eat at the hotel but came back for drinks. I’m glad we didn’t eat as I over heard other guests complaining about their food and the orders leaving one man to wait and eat alone. We were waiting at the bar for a long time to get served our drinks. We sat outside and as it got darker the many lights strung up did not come on. The actual layout and areas available within the hotel were good but the signage could have been a lot better. The rooms were good but heavy duvets for this time of year regardless of the heat wave. There was a kettle with tea coffee etc but no fridge which was a disappointment. Breakfast … not what I expected at all. Not enough staff or attention to detail. Various fruit juices none of which were labelled the orange juice was easy to spot but unsure what the others were. The water was empty and never filled up. There was a lot of mess that wasn’t cleared up, poor choice of coffee from the machines and no where to put teabags etc. I’m not sure how this is a four star hotel our trip was a let down"

"This is the 2nd time I've stayed here at The Raven and it certainly won't be the last. The staff are all fantastic, friendly, helpful, and even though they are all busy they are all really cheerful and take time to interact with you. Yes, admittedly the rooms look a little tired and dated, but they are clean, have everything you need and more importantly I sleep like a log here as the bedding is lovely and the beds extremely comfortable. Plus, staying on my own here as a female traveller, I felt extremely safe and at no point felt uncomfortable. As long as you give your registration number when you check in, parking is free, and there is a big car park with plenty of space. Quality of sleep is the most important thing anywhere you stay, and that coupled with the outstanding staff, makes The Raven a great place to stay"
