"Stayed for one night on journey heading South. Clean and comfortable hotel room. Evening meal was very good but with a limited menu, especially for vegetarian friends we were with. "Don’t expect to be able to get any food if you haven’t pre booked it. We travelled from the uk and after a long journey wanted some food and a glass of fizz. Only to be told that wasn’t possible. But a local bar shut in one hour so we needed to be quick. For a place that cost over 330 pounds a night I’d expect a little bit more service. The grounds and the place are beautiful but being able to get basic food and drink has always been staple in France so was very disappointing we couldn’t get...

"The host was very nice and spoke good English. Our room was cramped and somewhat dated. The toilet was separate from shower area and both doors had to be closed to navigate around the bed. Breakfast was great. There was a close-by restaurant where we had a dinner. It was really very nice for the price!"

We had several ‘challenges’- the heater in the bathroom only stayed on for 1 minute, the hairdrier did not work, the room was very clean when we arrived but daily room service was poor- only made the bed and changed the towels. "Great weather , we had a wonderful time. The older children enjoyed sleeping in the cottage. Great out door space, enjoyed the bbq area and the tennis court. the bbq did need cleaning before we could use it. On the down side, broken out door lighting meant it was very dark in the evenings. The pool is small. Not enough cups if everyone wanted a hot drink and no bowls. ( we had to buy bowls so the children could have cereal in the morning) One of the toilets was very dirty, There wasn't a gym. "

"My fiancee and I only stayed one night at Chateau de La Riviere, and I wish we had stayed longer. Communications with Alice, one of our hosts, were clear and easy. Upon arrival, we were told that we were the only ones staying that night! This made it feel like a fairy tale - a chateau all to ourselves! The historical flavor of the property made us feel like we were back in the 17th century. We were served an excellent multi-course meal by Chef Carole, who not only prepped and prepared our meal, but personally served it to us. Upon our departure, we were offered a private tour of the Chateau by the owner. The owners, their new puppy, and sweet dog were lovely hosts. They provided a custom and unforgettable 24 hours. We will return. Merci for everything! "
