Rugeley Cottages

A short walk along a stretch of the Trent & Mersey Canal in Rugeley, Staffordshire. I got on at The Mossley (near Armitage Road) and got of halfway up Love Lane heading towards Leathermill Lane. James Brindley was the engineer of the Trent and Mersey Canal. Mid C19. Coursed, rough-textured stone with brick arch soffit. Single span with towpath. Semicircular headed arch dramatically skewed. Rusticated stone voussoirs. Roll-moulded stone cornice above crown. 3 C20 concrete buttresses to north towpath side. Seen behind is the Old rail Bridge Disused Rail bridge, now a footbridge Doesn't look that old to me, looks like a modern concrete bridge!

"We werenâ€™t sure what to expect for the price we paid but we were very pleasantly surprised. The house is lovely and spacious. I loved sitting in the sun-warmed conservatory and having that extra room is a real bonus. The downstairs shower room is a great addition. We were very comfortable here and found the area quiet and very clean. A small asda is minutes walk away. The local â€˜Pestoâ€™ Italian restaurant is a must.
