"We stayed in pillac with 10 adults from 74 to 34, and 9 children aged between 2 and 18 and what a holiday we had! The house is perfectly set up for family groups as each lot can take a "wing". A really well equipped kitchen enabled us to have wonderful meals at home... meat cooked by the boys and wonderful salads cooked by Barbara's friend. Barbara was super helpful and very easy to contact the whole time. The village was gorgeous but tiny..... about a 10 minute drive for any grocery shopping....

Lady next door selling local cognac was very friendly. At night the sky was so dark, excellent for stargazing. The river charente is lovely for swimming in. Super!"

"Our stay at Robert’s house far exceeded our expectations. The house is truly beautiful and it was well equipped for our large party. The pool area was a welcome relief from the heat and the shaded area meant we could use it even at the hottest part of the day. "It's well located near gorgeous villages, and the garden is beautiful. We had a lovely meal in the garden as the sun set - the exterior of the house is very atmospheric. However, the interior is in desperate need of modernising. The kitchen is rather make-shift and poorly equipped, and the bathroom is tired. With a bit of thought put in (new kitchen/bathroom) and a good clean, the property could be amazing. But for us the big problem was the steep stairs and unsafe rail at the top of the stairs...

"We have had a lovely week at this house. The pool and garden were great for children and we spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying this space. The local host Lucy was super helpful and quick to address any queries/ minor issues we had. Lovely picturesque area to cycle around. Play and picnic area and tennis court a short walk/ bike ride from the house which was enjoyed by children. A great place to relax and unwind thank you 😊"

"Very happy with this hotel for a stop over. May be 2 stars but was super clean and comfortable which is what you need after a long drive. Staff very friendly. We needed air con and pet friendly and this place had both. Don’t actually know how they are making any money as it’s such good value. Would definitely stay here again. You can park your car right outside your room too and there is a restaurant next door with great French food. Made it a really easy stop for us "
