"Kinnitty Castle is a magical place to stay. The staff is warm and inviting, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the common areas are lovely. The beds are HUGE and very comfortable; the "throne room" has the most amazing soaking tub and was a welcome amenity after a chilly, rainy hike. The hotel provides a brochure with history of the castle; each room is named for a historical person who is affiliated with the castle and there is a bio for each. There are hiking trails (including a fun fairy trail) around the beautiful, forested property as well as other fun activity options: whiskey tasting, archery, and I believe you can arrange for horse riding. The hotel is currently transitioning to new ownership and they are making strides to refresh the hotel; although there were a few very minor areas of concern (wear & tear, paint, etc), we did not feel like those areas were a negative, we felt like they enhanced the ambiance.
We dined in the Dungeon bar both nights and the food was very good. It can be a little chilly down there, so bring a light sweater or wrap; again- it added to the ambiance. For breakfast, we dined in the main dining room which is very lovely and the food was delicious; we were even blessed by a beautiful rainbow! The staff, especially Aoife, was so excellent. Make sure you book a whiskey tasting with Connor and the lovely afternoon tea!
We stayed two nights and it wasn't enough; we will return to the castle on our next visit to Ireland."
"Really enjoyed the stay. Cleaning was top class. You must have really great trustworthy staff to be going in making the beds every day and tidying the rooms. Beds comfy too. Friendly staff. Shampoo, Conditioner and body wash is very nice. Breakfast was really good would but the sausages were the most bland sausages I tasted on the whole trip, like the ones you get in England."

10/10 Excellent
"My goal was to visit Castles and see the countryside! We purposely selected this place for the fact it was kinda in the middle of Ireland, from where we would make day trips. It worked wonderfully! Our other purpose was to be away from Dublin and meet what I guessed would be the true Irish. Very Close by was a fantastic Pub, and restaurant. We stayed a week here. Safety was of no concern on this trip. The people were wonderful and the food fantastic. We visited 7 castles while here, and went to the cliffs of Moher. We saved an incredible amount of money doing this ourselves versus going on tour buses. Do be aware back roads can be extremely narrow. I surely brushed the rental car against hedgerows on occasion. Rent a small narrow car for this neck of the woods. A big SUV would have been very difficult to keep on your side of the road, on backroads . Our Host Margaret was wonderfully accommodating. "
