About this property

welcome intrastevere

  • Fantastic for couples in the heart of Trastevere

Stylish, cozy design studio apartment in the heart of Trastevere. 35 sqm of Italian design, recently renovated with love. A wide suspended double bed and a super-comfortable designer single sofa bed. An elegant historic building with a cool atmosphere. Whether it’s designer finishes or the work of skilled craftsmen, improvements are ongoing. This is the perfect place to relax in comfort and silence (Trastevere can get so lively and noisy), since the apartment is located on a small, quiet side street.

The space is perfect for two people: now (latest renovation in March 2015) I have a wide and comfortable suspended double bed, plus a super-comfortable Danish-designed single sofa bed (NEW as of April 2015) downstairs.

To reach the suspended bed, you climb 5 beautifully designed stairs: beauty in design doesn’t always mean comfort, and the stairs are a bit high, so they aren’t suitable for guests with limited mobility.

I’m constantly renovating the apartment for myself, so I choose every single detail with special care.

Can you believe that the new suspended bed frame was crafted by a blacksmith who is not only an artist himself but also the craftsman behind the iron sculptures by Jannis Kounellis, the world-famous artist?

I love design, but I also love tradition, so you’ll be staying in a cool, contemporary space within a stately historic building. On top of that, my neighbors are wonderful people. The atmosphere here is really cozy. But I’d say this is true of Trastevere in general: think of this area as a small historic village right in the heart of Rome.

I hope you’ll enjoy my apartment and feel right at home. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped for your stay. You’ll find a comprehensive Home Guide on the table, but feel free to contact me for suggestions on where to buy groceries or take a nice walk.

Check-in and check-out times are set on Airbnb, but I’ll always do my best to be flexible. And when you leave—provided we don’t have a check-in on the same day—I’d be happy to let you check out later than 10 a.m.

Important: Guests can check in at any time; however, due to our operational arrangements, we must charge 35 euros for any check-in after 8 p.m. This amount must be paid in cash at check-in. Thank you for your understanding.

Trastevere is a very special place—it’s like a village in the heart of Rome. Narrow alleys, small shops, elderly people sitting on the street in the summer, and plenty of nice bars to enjoy an “aperitivo” in the evening. This used to be Rome’s artists’ district, and that tradition is still alive today. Every Roman—young and old alike—comes to Trastevere on the weekend to enjoy a nice, romantic dinner.

Trastevere is within walking distance of many attractive sites, but it’s also well-connected by public transportation. It’s within walking distance of Campo de’ Fiori (5 min), Piazza Navona (10–15 min), the Pantheon (15–20 min), Piazza Venezia and the Campidoglio (15–20 min), St. Peter’s (20–30 min), Piazza di Spagna (30–40 min), and the Colosseum (40 min). I always walk to my appointments :)

Getting here from the airport or the central train station is quite easy: from Fiumicino Airport, take the train to Fara Sabina/Orte (not the one to Termini Central Station—it takes longer and is more expensive) and get off at Trastevere Station. Then take tram 8 and get off at the Piazza Sonnino stop. The apartment is a 5-minute walk from there.

From Ciampino Airport, take the bus to Termini Central Station, then take bus “H” to Piazza Sonnino (the first stop after the bridge over the Tiber River).

This little apartment was awesome. I traveled here with my wife and it was the perfect size for a couple. It is probably a bit too small for any group larger than a couple. The location is fantastic! It is right in the heart of a bustling nightlife district, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and entertainment. Despite this, it is tucked away on a less busy side street, so you get the convenience of being close to everything without hearing loud music or crowds at night while trying to sleep.Overall it is a place we would love to stay again at.

Bed is suspended from the ceiling! The Positives: The place was clean. The host was nice and very responsive. The Neutrals The place is centrally located near the Fiori Di Campo and is accessible by bus, but is not easily accessible by the metro. The Negatives: There is no bedroom, only a loft. And not much of a loft. The bed is suspended from the ceiling with iron supports, and is only accessible via five 12+ inch steps (tile blocks) with NO railing! This would violate multiple building codes in the US. There is only one teeny tiny landing at the top, just big enough for one person to stand on. From there, you have to climb into the bed. If two people get in, one person has to curl up into a ball to let the other out. If you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you are wide awake by the time you have to climb back up the tile blocks! Unless you are into 3 A.M. calisthenics, pick another property. Shower is tiny, no shelf for soap. Water pressure was extremely poor. Stove is difficult to light. Could not light it during our stay. My husband has BPV (Benign Positional Vertigo) so it was extremely unsafe for him to get out of bed on the tiny landing and then go down those stairs/blocks with no railing. We checked out of our 5 night stay after 2 nights.
