We had a lovely welcome from Tony on our arrival and it was fantastic to walk in to the living area on the ground floor of the property, which was lovely and cool after a long, hot journey. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable and we had everything we needed for our 3 week stay. More importantly, the outdoor spaces were wonderful. A table outside the front entrance with a parasol for morning breakfast, a table on the first floor very cool veranda for lunch and a beautiful gazebo on one of the terraces above the property for late afternoon and evening. There was also a small balcony leading off the first floor bedroom where we spent a little time as well.
Gillian and Tony were very welcoming and helpful and went over and above the call of duty to ensure we were able to watch at least some of the Summer Olympics!
The location is fantastic as a base for exploring the local area and further afield. We fell in love with Barjac, a short drive away, and returned several times. We particularly enjoyed the Friday market and a restaurant called Nature & Thé.
We also loved Lussan, a beautiful medieval village, and Uzès with its central square and medieval herbal garden. Pont du Gard is a must, as is Avignon. We also went further afield and spent a night in Carcassonne, which although it was very busy was still worth it.
We also drove to Florac where the Information Centre for the Cévennes is based. We got lots of information about walks to do in the area and spent a lovely day in Florac, which is a very pretty little town. We enjoyed lunch at Au Pécher Mignon in the centre of the town.
All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and would love to return to the region as we certainly didn’t see everything there is to see, and we would definitely stay at this property again.
