The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable; the room was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. We will definitely stay there whenever we are in Roanoke.
The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the hotel has a small loading area and it would have been great to have had valet parking as the hotel makes use of a parking garage separate from the hotel.
It's a very new hotel and they are still sorting out a few details like signs (we found the entrance after a brief adventure). Room is huge with nice robes, towels and toiletries. Shower was great. Design is classy if a bit bland. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I did miss my in room coffee, although they had good coffee available in the lobby.
Absolutely amazing place to stay! This was my sister and I’s last stop after doing a cross country road trip and it couldn’t have been a better place to end this leg of our trip. We had to book a room here last minute due to some really bad weather and Gloria was so incredibly helpful and kind. She even upgraded us to a two bedroom room! The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms were some of the cleanest I’ve ever seen in a hotel. If I ever end up in Roanoke again I will absolutely stay here again!
We visited shortly after the "Grand Opening," but the property felt incomplete. Our room had unpainted drywall on the ceiling and unfinished wood trim. Functional details were also missing: there were no outlets near the desk for a laptop or the provided lamp, no in-room coffee machine, and no wine opener available at the room bar or front desk.
The check-in process was frustrating. Despite a 9:00 PM door-lock policy, no one was watching for our arrival as promised. We had to call the front desk while parked out front, which led to a confusing encounter with a local police officer regarding our car. Be aware that you must self-park in a downtown garage, and there is no luggage assistance. Furthermore, the staff mistakenly told me my card was declined for the deposit, only to realize they were trying to run an internal Expedia virtual card instead of mine.
On the positive side, the location is perfect for walking to everything downtown. Once you look past the construction issues, the design and finishes are high-quality. The property has immense potential, but the management needs to iron out these significant operational and finishing hurdles.
This hotel exceeded every expectation I had. First of all, the property itself is beautiful. We enjoyed learning about the history of the property and how they kept certain architectural aspects of the bank. Our room was stunning, with elegant design choices and vaulted ceilings.
It is right in the heart of downtown Roanoke, which put us within walking distance from plenty of restaurants and local shops, and a 20 minute drive from the mountains.
All of that being said, what sets this hotel apart from other luxury hotels is the hospitality. The staff went above and beyond from the moment we checked in to the moment we left, making sure we felt welcomed and cared for. Thank you to Deja and Johnie for taking such good care of us during our stay.
I can't recommended this hotel enough and we can't wait to return.
The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff was very helpful. She even went outside to point to the parking garage since which was close. They had good coffee and local fresh pastries in the lobby. They also blessed us with a room upgrade. I would definitely stay there again. There were lots of good restaurants within walking distance.
I stayed at The Promissory Hotel while visiting Roanoke for work. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff called me ahead of time to let me know which door to enter and where to park. Once getting there, they helped me with my bags to the room. The room was spotless and had a very unique vibe, unlike that of chain hotels. I also mentioned I would be staying in Roanoke more often so they offered to set me up with a frequent visitor rate. 10/10 recommend, I will be staying again!
