Catalonia is an absolutely gorgeous property. The hotel rooms are well maintained and I haven’t ever seen such attention to cleanliness of all facilities. The staff are all wonderful. So kind, welcoming and accommodating. The beach offered plenty of shade and tons of lawn chairs. However the water was incredibly rough (not the hotels fault) so we couldn’t enjoy the water. My only complaint was the food. We loved the Grill but found the other restaurants and the buffet mediocre at best. We had a very difficult time finding food options we liked. We really aren’t picky people but the food was an issue. The property has tons of wildlife and seeing them was such an experience. There is a resident monkey named Raul who posed for pictures, the caotis, wild boars and iguanas as well as birds and butterflies. My kids loved making friends by the beautiful pool. If the food was better this resort would easily be 5 stars. We will absolutely consider coming back on our next trip to Mexico.

Loved the natural jungle feel of this resort. There are animals to see all over. The resort feels very peaceful and is fantastic for families. The food was great both at the buffet and at the restaurants. Lots of staples the kids like, but also theme nights to try something new. Spent a lot of time on the beach under the shade of palm trees. Will return!!!

This hotel was great for our family trip. The room was clean and adequate size. The food options were vast and all very tasty. The beach access was easy and beautiful. Staff were also quite friendly and helpful. Our kids loved the pool. There were shallow areas and deeper areas and it was quite large so you didnt feel on top of anyone. The property is huge so if you are in a building closer to the pool prepare for a long walk to and from breakfast in the dining hall. It's a scenic walk so we didnt mind. Also, this may be a pro or a con depending but we loved the various wildlife around the facility.. particularly the Coatis, just watch your meal or they may steal it! It's not really walking distance to anything so you would need a car or tour bus if you want to go exploring outside of the resort. Good value for money

The resort property was beautifully surrounded by palm trees and overlooking the beach. Dining areas including buffet, sit down restaurants, and bars were nicely decorated. Pool and beach facilities were great.

Very nice property, absolutely beautiful beach with crystal clear water and white sand. Food was ok, not too many options but overall delicious. Room was very spacious and looked newly remodelled. 4 out of 5 overall

The property is located on beautiful Maroma Beach. Power white sand with warm clear emerald green and blue water. Walking along the beach is beautiful and relaxing. The resort is largely in the jungle with a long path to the beach and pool area. Sit down restaurants are available if reservations are made in advance and the staff really are eager to please. The chefs would benefit from cooking lessons but are very eager to please and learn. The resort is remote and about 30 minutes from Playa Del Carmen making the resort a little remote and quiet.

Friendly staff, like live in a forest, with coati running around and birds chirping. Good WiFi and bars. A lots of choices in buffet, but a little hard to reserve for restaurants. We found the lost cellphone in lobby, thanks to the front desk and to the honest person who found it.

The hotel is beautiful! So green so many palm trees wilds animals , the beach is amazing , white sand and the water is crystal blue , amazing for swimming . The people working there were very friendly . It was extremely quiet and peaceful considering they were booked out . There’s so much shade everywhere, so many palm trees on the beach for shade and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas around the pool. The food is excellent, buffet was great! The only negative thing I would point out is the wild raccoons there’s so many of them and they are so cute and entertaining but they mastered the skill of trying to steal people’s food around the pool and lunch areas , it made it difficult to enjoy your food there without having to hold your plate up high so they wouldn’t try and get it, forget putting your plate down next to your lounge chair , they’ll steal it and they’ll even get into your cups and drink your cocktails or smoothies . Your best eating in the restaurants . But honestly that’s the only negative thing we experienced, we are definitely going back next year.

Verny nice resort. The rooms are very clean and each day the room cleaning staff does a fantastic job. One thing that went wrong is the initial room we got the AC didn’t work. They switched us to another room within 1hr. Beach was fabulous! Palm trees and clean! The ‘quati’ raccoons though, they will steal your bag and food, fair warning.

The resort location and property is gorgeous but the service was underwhelming, with inconsistency of the quality of food and beverages and hit and miss whether a service request would be fulfilled or not. It seemed as though the resort is going through staffing and training challenges at the present time.

Although I did not receive my vip upgrade the property was nice. I had booked a deluxe king room and they told me I was being upgraded to a deluxe double queen which is not an upgraded room. It was disappointing to me that after I complained after check in someone from guest services called me 5 days in to my 7 day stay to tell me it was an upgrade which I disagreed with. Also once you get there to check in they ask you if you want to upgrade to privilege for an extra 10 dollars a day per person that gets you an extra restaurant to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner special place to sit on the beach and half off a spa service. That should probably be part of the vip. I’m not sure why it’s a vip property-The room was still nice and the property was still good. The buffet was one of the best I’ve had at an all inclusive resort. Most of the staff were friendly. Also lots of wildlife.

Me and my wife is a returning client after 10 years. Beach is still amazing and beautiful but some things in this resort changed to worse. We were surprised bathroom and toilet doesn't have ventilation. There is no place where to hang on wet towels. But what really disappointed us was staff service in buffet (except Alberto), staff service at snack bar Adelita and hygiene level at snack bar Adelita. They don't use dishwasher for glasses. I asked for glass of water, Humberto poured it to visibly dirty glass, then he poured water from this dirty glas to the clean one and gave it to me. I was speachless at this moment. Beach, pool chairs and tables were dirty from animals.

We really enjoyed the integration of resort style modern amenities with a jungle and wildlife friendly environment. The staff were excellent and went above and beyond for any requests. Additionally, the attention to detail regarding food allergies was better than anywhere we've experienced.

We spent a week here and it was amazing. I had two massages by Araceli, the best l had in years. The food was great lots of restaurants to choose from. The Mexican was our favorite it was excellent as was the service. The place is gorgeous with lots of wildlife. The beach is like paradise lots of chairs. We will definitely be back.

Amazing hotel! We stayed in the privileged suite and it’s worth the upgrade. The room was nice and it was super close to the pool and beach. We got a separate area on the beach, a dedicated restaurant in addition to all the others and drink service on the beach. Staff was super friendly and helpful! The beach is beautiful and secluded. A nice jungle escape, with some friendly resident monkeys :). Would stay here again!

Liked the quieter and smaller atmosphere feel. Some staff members were really good like Lucienda, Jose, Jesus, Arturo and Elizabeth. The 3 tiers of classifications (premium, privilege and exclusive) was annoying to say the least. For instance, I enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with my wife in the restaurant that we bought but couldn’t order the same bottle in the lobby bar. Premium drinks were only available to exclusive members despite me offering to pay for the more expensive drinks. My daughter loved the pool and Ricardo, from the photo shop, took some amazing pictures for which we ended up buying the album. They should also buy a new beach raker as lots of seaweed was left compared to the adjacent resorts. We had a great trip and it is a nice place just a few annoying things I hope they can improve upon.
