If you arrive after 4pm, don't bother. Just go elsewhere. I reserved my room four weeks in advance, and arrived at 7pm, per my flight. I was put on the 9th floor, in a room that smelled so strongly of mold that my throat and nose burned.
I went to reception and demanded a new room. They told me they were fully booked and couldn't give me a room. So what am I to do? I considered leaving and finding a hostel, but I really wanted the private room, had already paid for the (non-refundable) hotel for a week, and ... ugh. So I stayed in the room.
The next day I had a covid cough, and that persisted for the next four days. The next day I went back to reception and demanded another room. They told me what the upgrade could would be. I continued to demand a replacement room for my reservation. Eventually they moved me to another room of the same type without charging extra.
The new room was fine, except that it was next to housekeeping -- with their walkie talkies blaring and echoing all through the corridors, there wasn't much sleep to be had after 6-7am.
