A real gem of a place, a little nature sanctuary, located at the inlet to a pond… the adjoining homes are owned by the same owner and are quite close, so there is not a lot of privacy outside the house, but he was a wonderful host.
Jim was really accommodating, communicative, and easy to work with as a host. The home itself is beautiful...airy, clean, lots of light. And the location on the lake is amazing with a great view and beachfront. I would absolutely stay there again.
Really great place right on the lake, and James was a fantastic host! Listing was accurate and again, James was one of the best hosts we’ve ever had.
Super enjoyable weekend and hope to stay again soon!
My friends and I stayed a night while we went ice fishing out on the lake. The house was great, right on the lake, and James the host was awesome. Loved his vibe and the house had everything we needed. We ran out of time for the sauna but that's first on my list for next time.
The cabin was beautiful and well-appointed. The big draw for us was the location on the lake. You don’t have to worry about boats speeding by so it was quiet and safe for our family. We fished, saw the local beaver, and swam all day. Only note is that it isn’t super private, but the people around us were great so it wasn’t a big drawback. We will definitely be back again!
I spent an entire week in this House and loved every minute of it. Away from everything but the lake, the whole property has a classic lake vacation vibe.
Jim was a fantastic host, making sure that Everyone knew how to access kayaks, canoes, and floats, and setting up campfire and sauna even when it was going to be raining.
We will be up in the area again, and will definitely be looking to stay here.
LIfe is a Journey - and it is worth the journey to spend time at this beautifully handcrafted, Finnish - styled home.
From raising early to watch the sun rise over Lake Monomonac with coffee in hand, to a beautifully engaging conversation at dinner by the outdoor fire - you couldn't ask for more!
House is clean, open with plenty of light and fresh air. Beautifully finished. Lake access is protected from open water, safe space for kids to swim and float. James was a great host going above and beyond to make sure we had a great time.
The house was absolutely beautiful, very clean and well kept. Me and my boyfriend stayed for 2 nights and got to go fishing, kayaking, and swimming. It was very nice to have our own dock space and swimming area as well as a beautiful sauna. The owner was super helpful and made us feel very welcome. During our trip we also had solid internet connection the whole time which was awesome!! Hope to come back soon!
This is a perfect location for a peaceful, lake-side getaway. The cabin was clean, well-equipped, and Jim was there to greet us and give us the lay of the land. The cabin is tucked away in a tiny cove, so you are away from the busyness of the lake, but you can still experience the amazing lake view and beautiful sunrise. (Don't forget to ask Jim about the beavers!)
I highly recommend this cabin - perfect for a small family or a friends' weekend!
Jim was the perfect host!
Before we arrived, James sent a list of local attractions, restaurants, hikes and other helpful establishments. He greeted us at the door right on time after coordinating via text (the app is not the most timely method). He spent some time introducing us to the house and its history. The home is beautiful and a great location for outdoor fun. He had everything you needed in the house and then some, especially in the kitchen. My only complaints (which are minor) are that the bunk bed is a little squeaky, some of the pots/pans weren’t totally clean, and there were a few spiderwebs/dust in some of the corners of the house, but my house is the same way! My 2 year old son loved it, as did my husband, myself, and my parents.
Right after booking, I received a welcome text. Day of check-in, James (the owner) gave great onfo about parking info and giving an ETA of arrival time so he could be there to give us the keys. He was there as we arrived, gave us a tour of the cabin and a terrific history of the property. The Sauna and cabin are beautiful and comfy.
The 1st night of our 2 night stay was to assemble bouquets for a wedding the next day. The space was the perfect place to have a bridesmaid get together with the bride-to- be.
The Sauna is authenticity Finnish and was a great relaxing time before our chaotic wedding day of festivities.
The bride and groom used the cabin on the night of their wedding. They really enjoyed the peaceful lake and quiet setting.
I will definitely be making another booking so I can enjoy the kayaks and other water amenities that are available.
Valley Girl (James' cattle dog) was another great greater. Her excitement in visiting us was a great addition to our experience!
From the moment we pulled up, when the owner met us personally late at night on the front porch, we knew this place was something special. The owner took us on a tour and explained how this land went back many generations for his family and he pointed out many nods at his past relatives - like the buck that his great grandfather and great grandmother got on a hunt many moons ago. The cabin is "Scandinavian" style and very open, with a windowed view of the water, which is barely 30 feet out the back door. There's a cushioned nook against the window where my wife and I savored cups of coffee and books in the morning. The kitchen has a large island where our family enjoyed together time for breakfast and after long days, laughing and swapping stories. We also loved the serene and peaceful surroundings. One evening, my wife and I sipped a glass of wine on the picnic bench by the water as a beaver across the bay swam to and fro, tending to his (her?) dam. Ducks flew overhead and the spring peepers sang in the distance. Our son tried his hand at fishing with the owner's equipment. If the weather was warmer, we would have used one of the kayaks or canoes on hand. Another major highlight of this experience was the free-standing sauna. It is "by appointment" -- which basically means that we could text the owner with a few hours notice and he would stoke the fire and get things heated up. It was pure bliss and so relaxing every night.
This is a great property, and Jim is a wonderful host. He accommodated all our requests for sauna use and provided helpful tips about the area. We hope to return again one day!
What a beautiful property! The stay was perfect. The owner is very attentive and amazing with anything you may need. I will be trying to head back for a longer stay this summer!
I stayed here with my daughter and her two sons, ages 1/1/2 and 4 1/2. We had a terrific time; enjoyed the lake, the boats, the fire pit and the peaceful and beautiful environment. Jim was close by and helpful. I did think it odd that we had to purchase our own firewood as there were several piles of wood in the yard.
Jim was available as needed and extremely easy to work with. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend out host and the cabin. Everything is very well stocked and very well thought out. 10 stars all around.
