We had a lovely weeks stay at Porto Angeli. From the moment you arrive there's a wow factor and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We stayed in the junior suite and there was plenty of room for my husband, 2 young children and I. The bed was huuuuuge and we were sad to have to say bye to it! Also having our own pool made the kids' lunchtime naps much more enjoyable for us. My toddler has food allergies and chef Costas made special dishes for him with a big smile on his face. A special thank you to him. But all staff were so professional and very friendly, including the lovely ladies on reception who couldn't do enough for us. The food was great and varied with plenty of choice. The dining setting outside was lovely. The kids playground was big and had lots to keep little ones entertained. One day we decided to venture out of the hotel and it was easy to rent a car from the hotel. We were (and still are!) sad to leave this lovely hotel. A couple of slight areas for improvement is to mix up the A La Carte menu throughout the week. Also, the temperature of the pools was colder than the sea. It would have been good to have them a little warmer, even if only the kids pool. This did not impact our stay negatively - just ideas for improvement :)

Porto Angeli superb
Just had a great week at Porto Angeli with the family. The food was fantastic and everyone found something to eat even the fussy kids. The resort is very clean and the facilities are good. We used the gym most days with a good selection of free weights and machines including 2 running machines, cycling machine and 2 cross trainers plus lots of weight machines. The pools had plenty of loungers and the pool bar is a great place to chill out. The staff are first class I would highly recommend this and would return.

We had an excellent family holiday at Porto Angeli, thé hôtel was lovely and beautifully kept. The family room worked well with two young children. All the staff were lovely and very friendly. We felt very welcome during our whole stay.

Being the only black people in the whole entire hotel, we was treated very well and equal. Staff were so kind and patient even when I lost a valueable item, they kept me calmm and helped me search we found it. Food was amazing and all inclusive was very good. Definitely will be back soon. The only thing is that the hotel was far from places we wanted to go but it was worth it

AVOID - food poisoning and lack of support
We stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate our honeymoon and babymoon. My husband got food poisoning on the first full day we were there - spent the rest of the stay confined to the room as my husband alternated between bathroom and bed. Completely ruined our honeymoon. I reported the incident to the hotel at the time and they were hesitant to even send us up some extra water! They offered us no support other than some bananas on our last day. Really disappointed, I expect so much more from a 5* resort. They are refusing any type of compensation on the basis that we were “offered support from a doctor that we declined” which is completely false - we were never offered this but would have really benefited from it as my husband was so sick and still not recovered.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to bring your feedback to our attention; we are very sorry to read of the unfortunate incident occurred and wish your husband a fast recovery. Without wishing to be unsympathetic, we would like to share our side of the story. Your reservation in our hotel was from the 6th of July for 4 nights. On the morning of the 8th of July, you had called reception to ask for additional bottle of waters to be delivered in your room alongside with the floating breakfast basket and had informed us that your husband was feeling unwell. At the time our receptionist, Alexia, asked you if you wish us to call a doctor which was declined. We are not sure as to why you claim this to be completely false – this is a standard operations procedure and it is also recorded in our incidents book. We explained to you at the time that the hotel does not have any similar incidents to suggest that there was a problem with the food, water or drinks served. Indeed, should there was an issue there would have been multiple guests affected including yourself. Bear in mind that Porto Angeli applies the latest standards in food preparation and hygiene as per our ISO 22000:2008 certification (HACCP) and takes samples from food, water & drinks on regular intervals (amongst so many other procedures). We dismiss the comment of food poisoning, or at least food poisoning that occurred in our hotel, on the basis that we have no other similar cases to further substantiate this claim. In addition, none can really verify what your husband has eaten, where and when. As for the comment of bananas being offered on the last day, please note that patients suffering from diarrhea are in need of water, electrolytes & minerals (potassium, sodium, magnesium etc) which can be found in bananas, apples etc. Five hours following your check out we received an email from hotels.com mentioning that the hotel offered a doctor but no one came and that you were seeking compensation as you had spent some money on the doctor. Is this information false as well? We are genuinely sorry that you were indeed not able to enjoy your stay with us but we feel that we are getting accused of something that we are not at fault. Your husband was the sole case of more than 700 in-house guests with diarrhea symptoms and this statistically tells a lot. Once again thank you for choosing our resort for your honeymoon in Rhodes; we are very sorry that circumstances did not allow you to have a fantastic time as so many guests of ours and would like to wish you a swift recovery from this unfortunate event. What an amazing place. We stayed in one of the Adult-Only suits (801) and it was absolutely amazing. Room was modern (being built in 2021 if I’m not wrong) with a private good sized pool and it was one of the end rooms having just one neighbour so couldn’t be more private. View was amazing, waking up to see sea and hills surrounding the resort. Checked in late and there were brilliant sandwiches waiting for us in the fridge along with the bottle of wine to perfectly start our holiday. Food was very good with plenty of different choices every day, a la Carte restaurant was absolutely amazing (as a suite guest you can book it as many times as you want) and Taverna was a great experience to try traditional Greek food. Of course not everything was 10/10 so would rate the hotel beach a bit lower, but there was a lovely beach a bit further away and having a private swimming pool we haven’t used the beach much anyway. Be aware it is a very secluded place so if you fancy a day out on the island you will have to book a car or a taxi to take you to the main road as buses do not go to Porto Angeli although there is a shuttle service in certain hours. Overall I would highly recommend and we had an awesome time.

We stayed in one of the Gea Suites which was a great size and very clean. The private pool was perfect, and warm from mid afternoon each day. The fridge was stocked everyday with soft drinks and water. The hotel grounds were immaculate and the restaurants were always clean and hygienic with a great choice of food each day. Most days we had lunch at the main restaurant or the snack bar, both serving fresh salads, pasta and grilled meats and fish etc. We had one night at the Taverna and 2 nights at the A La Carte which was superb. Most of the staff were amazing, and special mentions must go to Anastasia on Reception who answered all of our daily questions, and also to Restaurant Manager George. George may be Porto Angeli's biggest asset! From the first day we arrived until we left, George went above and beyond to welcome us and make the Hotel and Rhodes feel like home. This is a great Hotel and we will definitely book again.

Would stay again
The GEA rooms are a fair distance from the main restaurant and a fair trek uphill. So ideal for all adults. However, the rooms and hotel are lovely. A nice way to wake every morning with your own private infinity pool.

This hotel is in a beautiful location and the views from virtually every point in the hotel are beautiful. The mattress in our room was superb. Check-in was a friendly but lengthy affair. Maria in the main restaurant was so gracious and hospitable. Konstantin in the sales department pre-arrival was very helpful and kind. The not so good: Our air conditioner did not work. We had 2 visits from maintenance, one that got it slowly blowing, but it never actually got cool in the room. As a result, we found ourselves drinking much more water and requested an extra bottle but were told no, one liter per room was the standard and we would just need to deal. Two days of negotiations before we were able to get a 2nd bottle of water on the condition we didn't drink any of the sodas in the "mini bar". The mosquitoes were intense and there was a roach in the bathroom the length of my hand. Haphazardly applied covid protocols. Guests asked to wear gloves at the buffet, but there were only 3 hand sanitizer stations. Masks were frequently worn below the nose by team members and guests alike and there were no attempts to limit capacity or maintain distance in the restaurant, which was enclosed. Oddly, they did enforce a 2m minimum distance at the beach, which meant there were not enough lounge chairs for most guests to enjoy. Pre-departure Covid testing at the hotel was easy to schedule but failed to take any distancing measures or sanitize between tests. Finally: NOT allergy safe at all.

Really lovely hotel perfect for an easy week in the sunshine 40min drive from airport, amazing beach for snorkel or diving crystal clear water Water sports available and PADI dive centre Staff super friendly and facilities good We had the maisonette which was split over two floors and ideal for us as a family with 2 children and wanting some private space for each of us we also had our own private pool which was lovely especially during these strange COVID times

Resort clean and modern. Restaurant at the bottom of steep hill and rooms at the top of the hill. No entertainment. Only mini disco for 30 minutes in the evening but is in German. Resort is predominantly for Germans. We went last week in October and was closing down the following week. One restaurant and pool snack bar closed for season when we arrived and minimal staff which is unfair as we paid a lot of money and was nothing like expected. Would not recommend

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We feel sorry to read that overall you did not enjoy your stay with us based on the score attributed. However, and without wishing to be unsympathetic, we would like to note that the majority of the comments made are inaccurate. First of all kindly note the resort stretches over an area of 46000 sq mt. with rooms being available from the very bottom of the resort up to the hill. You stated that there was no entertainment. Your arrival was in the early morning hours of 20/10. On 21/10 the hotel had hosted a lantern show / beach party, the following day 22/10 we had a show with acrobats in the amphitheatre and on 23/10 there was a magician show also in the amphitheatre. You had stated that Mini disco was only for German speaking guest where in fact certain days of the week this is organised for international guests and certain other days for German speaking guests; usually this runs on a rotation. All guests’ children are welcome to participate in the mini disco. The majority of the hotel's clientele is indeed of German origin however all of our staff is English speaking & we have various international events both as far as entertainment is concerned as well as various thematic nights to cater for all nationalities. You stated that you went in the last week of October and that the resort was closing down the following week whereas the hotel closed a couple of days following your departure (on 25/10). The a la carte restaurant closed on 21/10 and the pool bar was closed on 23/10 the day of your departure, meaning that your stay was not affected as far as the all inclusive program purchased since the a la carte restaurant is not part of the AI program. Once again thank you for your comments; we very much hope that there was some level of enjoyment out of your stay.

Our sea view superior room was very nice with amazing view and all facilities had been stylishly decorated. We were there first week of October & I was surprised that resort was still quite full. Seems to be popular with german and russian package tours. All inclusive restaurant had hundreds of people at the same time so that wasn’t so relaxing experience even food was very good. Beach was nice but mix of sand and stone so beach/swimming shoes recommended. Sea was lovely and warm, pools slightly cooler.

The hotel in its own was great, only 1 min walk to the beach - nice, clean beach. I travel a lot one thing i have to say i have never been to a 5 star hotel where you have to pay for freshly squeezed orange juice!All inclusive resorts , the word itself describes it, they were providing cheap artificial juice machines and selling the fresh juices! Once the food in mini bars were finished, they never refilled - in such a huge hotel you would expect fresh food to be provided throughout the day. After third day the food buffet was becoming very repetitive. Overall the experience was good, staff were nice and friendly apart from Lisa the receptionist, she is nothing but a racist individual! Husband and I approached inquiring for car rentals, i have no idea how she got into political and religious discussions about Turkish military air-forces that went over Stegna beach on one of the days, she even had the courage to go into islamic discussion about how Erdogan filled 'THEIR' islands with muslim refugees, they know nothing but how to produce kids every nine months!??? really is this what i should expect from a hotel member of staff? it also bothers her how nice and quiet Rhodes island is after October because there are less 'foreigners'? Again we are not foreigners we are tourists! I have to make this clear, she speaks perfect english and german so it had nothing to do with lack of language skills it was more to do with racism.

This hotel was very nice. We booked a suite with a pool in it which was great. The water in the pool was very cold though. The walk around the resort was a bit hilly. The hotel was 90% full of German tourists, with very few English tourists. The staff at this hotel made the whole experience even better. There is a good kids club and lots of entertainment for the families. The hotel is set on quite a remote part of the island so there isn’t anywhere to visit unless you arrange day trips. The travel time from the airport is about 50 minutes and costs between 50-60 Euros one way.

Lovely hotel close to the beach. The staff (especially on reception) were very helpful and couldn’t do enough to help. The food was lovely, lots of choice, well presented and hot. The whole resort was very clean. Guests were from a number of countries but all friendly and there was a family friendly environment. The lounge was a lovely area, relaxing and comfortable.

I would return
This was a very nice hotel not much I could complain about ,food is very good with a wind variety. If you are going with the children they have a very nice playground but swimming Pool is not the best. I did upgrade my room as I did not like the first room. please keep in mind that this is a four-star not a 5 hotel. I would definitely stay again

Recommend, 4,5 star hotel in our oppinion
Very good food and service, clean rooms. Comfortable rooms. We were beside the pool, sometimes too loud music. Animation with clown a bit boring, everytime the same programme. And we have feeling that we are in German geto, almost everything was adjusted for Germans, silly.

Families: great, Couples: poor
There is no where in the entire resort you can be without seeing and hearing lots of young kids. So for young families it is good. For couples wanting a getaway, terrible.

Beautiful resort
It was our honeymoon so they upgraded us to a junior suite with our own pool! Beautiful resort, clean beach, great food and drink choices.

Lovely hotel in nice quiet resort
We had a lovely time. We arrived at 10pm, we were given a nice cold meal. Our suitcases were taken to our room. We were then left to make our own way to our room- which wasn't easy as large hotels with many blocks. We were happy with our family room although the bathroom didn't have a window. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day. The restaurant was well managed and food was good. Staff at hotel were mainly pleasant esp in restaurant. The bars however always seemed under staffed, they were always running out of glasses n the wait was often long. Pools and communal areas well kept. Hard to get sun beds always as people would put towels on the beds and leave them vacant for hours on end. The night time entertainent was lacking even by our 6yr olds standards. Surrounding area nice, restaurants and locals couldn't of been more lovely. Area quiet but enough for a relaxing weeks holiday.

The idyllic gem that is Port Angeli,Stegna,Rhodes.
The location was beautiful. A small village a couple of kilometres from the main road on the coast. Set at the foot of beautiful rocky outcrop of hills. The rocks envelop a lovely beach. The water is clear lovely to bathe and snorkel in. The hotel staff were excellent, very polite, courteous and responsive. The quality of accommodation, food and overall amenity was very good. My only complaint was the litter on the beach of the surrounding areas. Some people are just irresponsible and the frontagers of the other parts of the beach do not look after the beach as well as the hotel did theirs. We had a very relaxing holiday and would definitely go back.

Nice hotel close to the beach!!!!
The bartenders are amazing!!! Can make any drink you want and very friendly and welcoming, gave us advice on things to do on the island and also gave us advice on what places to eat!! The hotel staff is extremely friendly as well!! Beds are not that comfortable kind of firm but we still slept well. Hotel is extremely close to the beach and they have their own area reserved for you to sunbathe. Close to a lot of amazing restaurants within walking distance.

Tired hotel in need of some love.
Spent two nights. Food was mostly packaged. We weren't aware we had booked an all inclusive until we arrived, immediately we were disappointed, fearful of the quality to come. Our room location was awesome. We were on the corner of a section of rooms with their own pools, the outdoor space was great, pool all to ourself and had sun all day long. The room itself was dilapidated and extremely smokey. We requested a move, the front desk staff were very attentive to offer another room in the same section. We opted to stay put and keep our sunshine & suck up the interior. We wouldn't stay here again but would recommend it for those with children, seemed very appropriate for children.

Nice hotel with a great view ,but not recommended for couples as there are a lot of kids and that is the focus of the hotel. Food was OK but tired quickly of the buffet.
