"We had a wonderful stay at Strawhouse Resort. The property is beautiful, with the cafe and patio along the river. Good pizza and coffee roasted on site. Amazing hospitality from Don, Julia and all the Strawhouse team. We stayed in the yurt. What a fun experience. It was cozy and well appointed. This area along the Trinity River is so beautiful. "

"This property needs a lot of work. Maybe it was popular 60 years ago but nothing has been updated. Train was maybe 30 yards out the back door. 4 or 5 freight trains daily. Lots of vacant old buildings in the area. I stayed but was very disappointed. I can’t believe this property is sponsored by VRBO. I can’t believe they actually charge to stay at this property. Awful."

"We visited for 4 days and stayed a 5th day so we could get another day of skiing in. We were comfortable, the place was heated, warm, cozy and away from everything which is what we wanted. There’s a store in town (Reeds) where you can grab groceries, Redding is a half hour away, Shasta 1.5 hours. Peace, quiet, Serenity, good for the kids to run around. Plenty of firewood for the old school stove. Beds cozy. Office nearby. Hottub wasn’t overchlorinated which was nice. They should make it lighter...
