"The only place I stayed at that required $100 CASH deposit, even after having paid with a credit card. When we got there we were unable to get into the pool because they closed it at 8pm. The table had two tiny dead roaches on it when we got into our room. The AC was not working at all and the room was more unbearably hot than being outside. Even with the windows open all night. The TV reception didnt work so we cpuldnt even watch tv because the glotching was so bad. Tried to get into the pool...

"My only complaint really is that the beds have HUGE dips in them. We had to go to Target, get egg crates, and double them over in order to sleep comfortably."

Gaia Hotel & Spa Redding, an Ascend Collection Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Overall, this short but memorable stay at Gaia was wonderful. I'm elderly and when I arrived to check in I was told our accomodations were on the second floor. I don't do well with that and advised staff of this. The receptionist at the front desk was not able to make a change however she called her manager before I had asked her to do so. The ;manager came and arranged lovely ground floor accomodations that overlooked the nearby river. The food in the restaurant is good and the service was superb. The grounds, including around our lodging are beautifully landscaped and maintained. The one thing that bothered me is that the rooms have a unique faucet in the bathtub/shower combo. While there was a decal on the wall telling how to use it, it was the same color as the bath tiles and was in about 8 point type, much too small for my old eyes. I finally figured it out AFTER having taken a bath. These old bones don't do so well with getting into or out of a tub. So if you can't figure it out, I'm sure their lovely staff will be happy to give you a lesson in how to use it. Otherwise, entirely happy with our stay."
"1) Near $400 for a 1 bedroom "suite," at a hotel That makes you share an elevator with Housekeeping. My family and I had to wait for 3 elevator passes so Housekeeping could get their carts & gear to their destinations. The reason I mention this at all is in hospitality a price point for your accomodations typically reflects "A Higher Level Of Guest Expectations Met," for overall experience and amenities offered on the property. In this case for the price of the Room, the minimum expectations would be: 1) staff NOT impeding in the OVERALL GUEST EXPERIENCE. 2) Cleanliness would be at a higher level. A) I found a used flosser from a previous guest on the bedroom carpet. B) The couch had chip remnants & looked dirty. C) Since the sofa bed is considered a sleep accomodations it should also be Cleaned. When we pulled out the matttress of the sofa bed the floor under it was filthy, & dust went flying. In the linen provided- the blanket had 4 long hairs stuck in it. I had specifically requested extra cleaning due to severe allergies and asthma for all of my family members. D) 2-4 coffee cup- 1 pkt of coffee.
At these price points staff operating systems should be unnoticed by guests, quality control needs an upgrade in Housekeeping, and rooms need refurbishing to continue operating under the Doubletrree Hilton moniker.
On the positive side, front desk and restaurant staff is kind and accommodating and late night food and breakfast was a home run!

"Room was unclean. Stained sheets. Toenail clipping under bed. Bottle cap under bed. No conditioner in shower. Just a run down property. Won’t stay here again. "
"So bad, couldn't even stay. we arrived at about 9:45 red state eviction notices on almost all the doors. Front desk area was a mess flies everywhere con webs.and garbage on the floor. no one at the front desk. Pool was empty. Found the owner using the grill on the property, didn't come to help us had one of his buddies do it, got our key, room was wide open smelled of cigarettes, with a bed flipped onto the wall and cleaning supplies everywhere, not to mention tenants staring outside just watching us. We got out of there pretty fast. DO NOT STAY HERE!!"
