We stayed here for one night and had a pleasant and cozy experience! It was easy to find, beautifully tucked away. Our cabin was perfect for an evening. Our cabin also had its own mini fridge and private bathroom. There is a communal kitchen that is well stocked with everything you might need to make your own food. Breakfast was a plus. Friendly staff, welcoming with great stories and suggestions for travel. I recommend this stay to any travellers passing thru looking for a convient, cozy stay. Great for solo, partners and families.

Unlike other places we stayed during the week-long Iceland trip, the host Agust actually lives on site. He was warm and extremely helpful. We enjoyed the real "bed and breakfast" experience, something I used to experience in the old BnB days and became uncommon in recent years. The property, while quiet and private, is easy to access from the main highway route 1.

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage adjacent to the main house. The space is incredibly charming, cozy, and well-equipped with a small fridge and a lovely private patio. August was exceptionally welcoming and kept us entertained with fascinating stories from his many adventures. The main house is really beautiful and interesting, it is filled with unique objects each carrying their own history. August was even kind enough to let us use the kitchen late in the evening. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would love to stay here again!

Had a family of 5 with me and rented two cabins. August, the owner, said there was some screw up with Expedia and they ended up renting the same cabin twice for me on the same day instead of two different cabins. So he was able to accommodate two of us in the house with a shared bathroom. Other guests were nice enough, but it's something he should have caught well before we arrived and contacted me about the mix up as I placed the reservation about 10 weeks in advance. Instead, it became a surprise. The path from the driveway (limited parking) to the cabin was very rutted with deep holes in the grass. One of our party twisted her ankle pretty bad and we had a LOT of hiking ahead. So she was on ibuprofen and a leg wrap for the remainder of the trip. He should fix that ASAP. Breakfast was unremarkable. A decent stay for the night somewhat out of the way but happened to be at a good location for our agenda.

Property was beautiful and serene. Cabin was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious assortment of meats, cheeses, bread with condiments. Coffee, tea and juice. Host was wonderful-kind and welcoming with a wealth of knowledge. The only thing, would maybe have a small kettle in the room fro tea in the evening.

The best guesthouse in Iceland for us

Our host was very nice and taught us a lot about Iceland. We stayed in a cottage, which was very cozy and had a kitchen and refrigerator. The garden and the building were very beautiful and comfortable.

The Hela cabin was a wonderful stay for 3 people, it was charming and cozy. There were also horses living on the other side of the fence, we had a joy feeding and petting them! The location was also a plus, far enough from town to enjoy the stars and country atmosphere, but near enough for a short drive for meals and groceries (~10 mins).
