About this property
Frank Lloyd Wright–Inspired Architectural Retreat on 5 Private Acres
The Wright House is an ideal retreat for couples, families, and small groups who find as much delight in nature’s beauty as they do in art and architecture. Designed by the famed modernist architect Jim Fox, a student of the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition, this unique 1986 home was constructed with a clear vision: to harmonize with its natural surroundings and optimize the breathtaking views of the valley. Inspired by Wright’s philosophy of organic architecture, the home was designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, making it a true architectural gem in Northeast Georgia.
Upon entering, you’re greeted by a strong, inviting entranceway, carefully designed to create a transition from the outside world to the inside. As you step inside, the home's open floor plan immediately creates a sense of spaciousness, with a natural flow between the main living areas. The expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors bring the outside in, offering panoramic views of the valley and allowing sunlight to illuminate the interior. The clerestory light fixtures further contribute to this sense of openness by reproducing natural, ambient light in the evening while maintaining privacy.
The cathedral ceilings add vertical grandeur, but the home maintains a sense of groundedness through the use of horizontal lines in the architecture, a signature of Wright’s style. These low, sweeping lines mimic the flat, expansive landscape of the valley, making the house feel deeply connected to the surrounding environment. The roof, designed with dramatic cantilevered overhangs, extends beyond the home’s structure, offering both shade and visual drama while also emphasizing the horizontal aesthetic.
At the heart of the home lies a central hearth, a cozy fireplace that serves as the symbolic center of family and community, reflecting one of Wright’s key principles. The use of natural materials such as stone and wood is evident throughout the home, blending the structure with its environment.
One of the house's most stunning features are its windows— they not only offer continuous views of the landscape but also allow for a constant influx of natural light. These windows frame the beauty of the surrounding landscape, making nature an ever-present part of the interior experience. Step through the sliding glass doors onto the terrace and porch to enjoy morning coffee or evening sunsets while remaining connected to the natural world.
The low-pitched roof of the home further emphasizes the horizontal lines and maintains a gentle, unobtrusive profile, allowing the house to sit quietly in its environment. This architectural choice ensures that the structure feels like a natural extension of the landscape, not an imposition on it.
Though the house showcases a mid-century modernist approach, it remains comfortable and welcoming, with the main living area located on one level for ease of access. Whether you’re sitting by the fireplace or enjoying the outdoor spaces, every aspect of the design encourages reflection, relaxation, and a reconnection with both nature and loved ones.
Centrally located near state parks, outdoor adventuring, fine dining, and boutique shopping, this property offers the perfect balance of seclusion and accessibility. Whether you’re seeking to hike the nearby trails or explore the local culinary scene, the Wright House provides an unforgettable retreat for architecture enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
A stay at the Wright House is more than just a vacation—it’s an opportunity to live within a piece of art, one that draws on the timeless principles of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural vision. Guests will appreciate not only the breathtaking views but also the custom lighting fixtures designed to complement the home’s architectural lines, the carefully designed entranceway that offers a sense of compression and release, and the overall feeling of being both sheltered and connected to the world outside. It’s a place where form meets function, and where design meets nature in perfect harmony.

We loved staying at this amazing property with the beautiful views, expansive decks, amazing artwork, friendly neighbors and wonderful host. Our pup loved it too. Also enjoyed learning more about Frank Lloyd Wright. Overall of great stay!
Truly gorgeous comfy home in the valley. Our mixed generation family loved the stay. If you're a deck person, like we are, you'll love both the covered and non-covered deck options with gorgeous views.
We stay here every year (that it is available) for two of our yearly family events up in Rabun Gap. We all just love it! Plenty of room, large living room with awesome fireplace and fantastic view from the back deck!

Beautiful, one-of-a-kind home with original art in every room. Serene setting. Deck is massive…offers stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Screened-in porch is large...ideal for dining or just relaxing. Property is well-maintained. Kitchen is well stocked. Back yard is huge…borders on the tree-lined Tennessee River, no wider than a small creek at this location. Highly recommend.
This house is full of charm! We loved every minute of our stay! The architecture, furnishings and Nancy’s art work made every minute in the house seem like a treat. The views could not be beat. My two children and their small families joined us and we all had plenty of space and every amenity possible. We did not want for anything, from dishes to humidifiers and from games to extra blankets, they had it all! We will definitely be booking this home again!
The trip was planned to unwind from a couple of stressful months. It was absolute heaven. So quiet & peaceful, we spent hours enjoying the deck and views. The property had everything (and I mean everything) you could wish for! Loved the wet bar, the pantry was well stocked with spices, oils, vinegar, etc. the bedding was comfortable, the couch was comfy enough for daily naps. This is our new favorite house rental! Love love love.
We took our 4 grown kids for a final summer, long weekend. We loved it! Huge back deck with spectacular views of the mountains. The house itself is beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright style. Cozy, inviting, unique. All the comforts of home and well stocked. My son called it "coolest house ever"! We will be back!
Property is conveniently located to many trailheads as well as grocery stores. Very comfortable furnishings with lots of cozy blankets. Kithcen is well equipped with lots of glassware, pots, pans, etc. Even has a pretty well stocked pantry in case you forgot your cholula sauce! Home is located on a crest that allowed for some good night sky observing. Views from each window is spectacular. Can only imagine what it would be like when warmer outside to use the back deck and screened in porch.
Bliss after the storm (Milton kicked our Florida butts)
The pictures of this property do not do it justice. It is stunning. Magnificent. Breathtaking. We had the most peaceful stay, sitting on the back deck for hours, tuning in with nature or walking next to the river below. The surrounding area is just as amazing as the house-we want to live there. Spent time exploring Black Rock Mountain and the charming lake with our fur babes and made some great new friends (our neighbors Mandy, Dennis, Ollie, and Skye). We will definitely return for a visit this summer. A huge thank you to our host Peter
I have a preference for the FLW aesthetic, so just loved the vibe of the house. We were here with friends and had just a wonderful relaxing time. We ventured out to hike and visit wineries and distilleries and to the convenient grocery store to eat in each night. The pantry is stocked with necessities and spices, and the whole place was warm and inviting. Perfect for visiting the mountains with friends. An added bonus was the guitar in the corner. My husband thought about bringing one of his, but it wouldn't fit in the car - this added so much to our week. Just a lovely, lovely house and location!
My wife and I loved our stay at this amazing home!
The great views and the floor to ceiling windows really make for an awesome way to kick back and relax.
The internet at the house is FAST. They have TVs with streaming services.
There's also plenty of verizon 4G signal for your cell phone at this house.
It is located less than 10 minutes away from a Grocery Store, a Chick Fil A, The Dillard House, and The Cupboard.
The house is easy to get to, located a few miles off the highway with easy driving roads leading to the driveway.
I highly recommend this house and hope to stay here again sometime soon.
It was just a joy to stay in this house. We were lucky enough to have fabulous weather most of the time, but in the evening when it rained, we were still able to sit outside on the porch under the overhang and not get wet! The property is incredible. My dogs were so happy. Our original plan was to go out for dinner, but we enjoyed the house so much that we ended up changing our plans. We decided to eat in - just picked things up from the supermarket (and also ordered pizza.) Wait till you see the pantry! It is absolutely stocked with anything you could want to cook. We can't wait to come again. Oh - Stone Creek Winery/Vineyards - excellent. We went there twice!
We often get to appreciate a work of art - we seldom stay in one. But that is what this house is - my wife and I are fans of Frank Lloyd Wright and prairie style/midcentury modern design. The home is beautiful and an atmosphere that calms in itself. It is nicely decorated with art by the mother of the current owner. The setting could not be better - fairly easy access, a great property and a view from the deck that will draw you out there any time of day. The screened-in area is a plus. There is a neighbor close-by but we did not hear them other than occasionally their dog. All of the space is very usable. Everything is comfortable - from the beds to the couch to the dining table chairs. The common spaces in the home were great places for family to congregate but the house is also big enough to get off on your own if that is what you want. We traveled with family - two couples, a teenager and two dogs - and the home worked for everyone. The house is well stocked with necessities and fun (books, games, guitar, etc.) The kitchen was very usable and we cooked several times - the owners have labeled everything you need to find - which was helpful. We communicated with Peter (the owner) and he was great to talk to and seems to be on top of fixing any needs or issues that arise. The home is in a great neighborhood, easily accessible to all the the things you might want to do in Rabun County. We highly recommend it and vow to return and enjoy it again!
Just as wonderful the second time around! This is, hands down, our family's favorite house we've stayed at in the past 10 years. We absolutely love the cozy atmosphere and floorplan. The well-stocked walk-in pantry is a great bonus. Can't wait to hopefully return in the future :)
Had a minor issue with A/C. Host jumped all over it, service tech out next day. Host called and texted to make sure everything was taken care of. Beautiful house .. excellent stay. Highly recommend. Close to towns and close to waterfalls.
We absolutely love the house and homey feel as soon as we walked in. The back neck was amazing early morning and evenings. We will definitely stay again.
