The rooms are spacious and well decorated. We’ve stayed here 3 times and especially like the rooms on the top floor that have patios facing the mountains. There’s no elevator so it’s a hike to the fourth floor. The staff always helps us with our luggage.

We had several options to choose from and we are so glad we picked this place. We had the room with the balcony that had a great view of the city and surrounding hills. There were a couple of great restaurants just a block or two away for dinner. But best of all was the Nadia at the front desk. She was so friendly and helpful. She never tired of our never ending questions and requests. We would come back again and again!!!

Kitu like home in Quito
Like a home away from home! Sound cliché, but that is exactly what we felt at Kitu Hotel. Very friendly and extremely helpful staff, ecofriendly environment, great view of the city, clean and comfortable.

Idea for a single traveler if your considering..
Very conscience staff. Once i booked the accommodation I continued to contact the hotel for advise. Nadia organized taxi, with the mans car details, name and where i should be at the airport. Exceptional service for a person who has never been to Ecuador. The hotel has many repeat visitors from all over the world, i was rather impressed.

A quaint hotel in Quito. Friendly staff , excellent area within walking distance to restaurants , brewery, Mercado & a SuperMaxi . The staff was knowledgeable . As my first trip to Ecuador this will give me a great memory. A big shout out to everyone at Cruz Lima! Thank you!

I arrived early in the morning on an international flight and was still allowed into my room right away. The desk staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was tasty and cost only $3. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very reasonably priced. The building is older and has no elevator, and at night there was some noise from hall/staircase and the street, but that just comes with the territory. The neighborhood is safe and walkable, with restaurants, a grocery store, and small markets for water/snacks very nearby.

Good location, clean, great price!
The professor and department chair of our department stays here every other summer before he heads out to the Andes for field research. I book it for him every time -- he loves it here!

We stayed at Sierra Madre for one night. The room was a good size and had a large balcony. However when speaking to friends it was overpriced compared to other rooms in the city. That said, the staff were friendly and the breakfast good.

Charming little hotel
Really cute hotel. Located near the nightlife area but far enough away so not loud or crazy. The beds are very comfy and the room was clean and the staff was welcoming. We paid about $60 a night (including taxes).

Simple Place, Good value for money
Offers a hotel shuttle which consists of hiring a registered taxi for you from airport. Cost ~30 USD, airport about 40 minutes away. Rooms are very simple but clean. No fridge/AC/heat. Situated right in Mariscal Sucre area which is hotspot for restaurants, shops, etc, so easy to find food to eat. Since its in middle of the city, can be loud at night with music, car noises, etc.

Kind, considerate staff, and comfortable hotel
I was in Quito for a layover. This hotel's staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and kind. I (a solo female traveller), arrived in the hotel later at night. As it was too late for me to comfortably venture out for dinner, the man at the front desk ordered a pizza for me. I had a single day in Quito before my flight late the following night. So, in the morning, the woman at the front desk sat down with me and went over a map of places to go and things to see. I particularly appreciated the woman's candour in noting areas that would not be safe for me to go alone, even in the daytime. While I ventured out for the day, the hotel stored my belongings (I had checked out that morning). What was exceptionally considerate was when I returned to the hotel and still had a few hours to kill before heading to the airport for a midnight flight, the same man at the front desk from the night before gave me a room free of charge to rest in before my flight. I greatly appreciated the staff at this hotel (and the woman running the breakfast was also very cheerful and friendly).

Hotel was overbooked. Reserved a room with a balcony for 2 nights of vacation. But, when we arrived to check in, we were given a broom closet. The shower did not work, no hot water and no water pressure. Maintenace kept us waiting after midnight, the maintenance man could not fix the shower and said the hotel was aware of the problem before we checked in. Hotel staff working the late shift said nothing they could do since all the other rooms were taken. So our first day was disasterous, after a long flight and not able to shower. On the second day, a huge group checked out, the manager finally agreed to give us another room, however, we were so exhausted from the previous night our short stay was not enjoyable. Older hotel that shows and smells like it.

Charming Hotel with Outstanding service
The Sierra Madre is a charming old boutique hotel. They have an excellent staff who were outstanding in their desire to help. They serve an excellent full breakfast with cheerful service. Walking distance to Plaza Foch and parks and short taxi rides to Colonial Quito. Great views from the upstairs terrace.

Our room was a fourth floor walk up. Comfortable with two nice beds, good bathroom, shower. There was good TV and WiFi. Breakfast was eggs to order, yogurt, rolls, juice, fruit, some hammy stuff and cheese. All in all totally OK. They nicely let us store bags for three days afterward. I agree it was a bit pricy as we were there over Christmas and the entire area was quiet. For an extended stay you might book a couple nights here and look around. A wide range of hostals is available.

Nice hotel close to Foch square
The hotel was nice and clean and the staff are really lovely. It is within easy walking distance of Foch Square ... and if you like walking, not too far from the old part of town. We enjoyed our stay.

Very average hotel
Unfortunately, we didn't have good experience at the hotel. The location was convenient, the hotel lobby and restaurant were nice, but the room was average, not as nice compared to other 3-star hotels in Quito. Our bad experience was that someone took some of our stuff, including our camera with our Galapagos pictures from the hotel room while we were having breakfast before checking out. We normally always lock our stuff in the safe, however, since we were checking out, we packed our stuff before breakfast and the hotel had good reviews online so we couldn't believe this could happen. We talked to the hotel manager but there isn't really anything we can do. I do hope they take it seriously and prevent this in the future. So, our suggestion is either take your stuff with even if you step out of the room for few minutes, or keep it locked at all time.

Really nice room on top floor with private terrace. Excellent wifi in room. Lots of hot water. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit off the main drag in Mariscal so the street looks a bit dodgy, maybe a taxi late at night to get back to the hotel, but that's recommended every where in Quito. Otherwise, would easily stay here again. Great price, too.

Great staff
The hotel staff are great, very responsive to requests, helpful with restaurants, directions, arranging driver for excursions. While a little out of the center of Mariscal, it is only a 5-10 minute walk. Good value.

While not in the old part of Quito, the hotel had good restaurants nearby and even a wonderful shop of Ecuadorian handicrafts. The front desk staff was particularly helpful. The included breakfast was standard but fine. Our luggage was stored for us.

Left without a place to stay at 1AM.
I had a reservation made through Expedia for a 2 night stay at the Sierra Madre in Quito. I had emailed the hotel to inform them that my flight would be arriving late and wanted to confirm my late check-in. I received an email from two separate managers that everything was set, but when I arrived at 1am in the morning, the front desk clerk informed me the hotel was full and he was unable to provide alternate accommodations. Fortunately we knew someone else staying there and ended up sleeping on the floor of their room using the lobby room's couch cushions. The hotel was able to provide a room the following night and upgraded me to a balcony room, but I would have preferred to have a bed the first night. They said it wasn't their fault because a guest from the previous night decided to stay and there was a conference in town, but that meant they had all day to find alternate accommodations or at least all day to notify us of the situation. Since then I did receive an email from one of the managers that had sent me my email confirmation. She apologized for the inconvenience and said she would western union a refund for the one night I paid. I have yet to receive anything in the mail and she has stopped returning my emails. The local staff was friendly, but I can not recommend this place based on my experience with the Hotel management.

Nice rooms with patio.
Thi was a lovely place to stay while in Quito. The rooms had plenty of space and were nice. Lovely staff to help us. There was loud music on Sat night from a place nearby but I would not let this deter you. It was quiet at an early enough hour and the seafood place across the street is killer!

Kitu Hotel, Quito
Das Hotel ist mitten in La Mariscal Distrikt lokalisiert etwa 2.5 km von historischen Zentrum entfernt. Das ist im ältere Baustil gebaut mit Holzboden und ein bisschen altmodisch, aber es hat mir trotzdem gut gefallen. Leider gibt e kein Aufzug und in 3000m Höhe ist es nicht so leicht Gepäck hochzutragen. Das personal ist sehr freundlich und behilflich und hat mir guten Tipps für die Umgebung gegeben. Das traditionelle Frühstück war sehr schmackhaft aber auch etwas kalorienreich.

Das Hotel liegt in Gehnähe vom Ausgehviertel "Foch". Etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber noch einigermassen gut im Schuss präsentiert sich das Sierra Madre in einem anständigen Zustand. Service ist sehr zuvorkommend. Minuspunkte: Frühstück nur bis 09.30 Uhr und WiFi nicht in allen Zimmern verfügbar.
