We had a nice stay at the Smokey Hollow Cabin. The owner was great to communicate with. There was lots of room inside and plenty of activities outside to keep everyone entertained.
This was our third year having a reunion at this house with multiple families. It is set up well for large groups and we really enjoy having the various outdoor activity areas and the large dining room table. There is not much to do in the surrounding area, so you have to be ok basically just hanging out at the house.
What a great place for a large family getaway! Plenty of room indoors and lots to do outside. We especially enjoyed using the new pickleball court. The kitchen is well stocked for making meals for large groups. Would definitely recommend. .
This house is set up well for a large group. We love the huge table where we can all eat or play games or hang out. The new pickleball/basketball court was a nice addition, especially since there isn't much to do nearby this property.
Clean, neat place with hiking, and outdoor activities tha all enjoyed. In the evening there was plenty of room for our family of 30 to sit around a campfire. There were plenty of bedrooms for all of us including two on the first floor that was perfect for "Memaw". Nice game room in basement, property well maintained. We would certainly stay again!
Our extended family enjoyed a weekend together at this cabin. It was a very quiet location with great Wifi. It was great to be able to get away and enjoy each other's company with very little distraction. Because the cell phone service was weak, we were happy for a land line in case of emergency.
House is well laid out. It’s in the middle of nowhere so it’s very peaceful. There is no cell service but the WiFi was very good. Outside has plenty to do and a nice area around a firepit. We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
We went to this property as a family of 26 for a birthday/ retirement celebration. After some initial issues accessing the property (be aware it is a steep drive and tricky if there is snow or ice) we had a wonderful time. The kitchen is very well equipped, large, roomy living area, a table that seated all of us and plenty of bedrooms. The kids enjoyed playing in the basement and outside in the snow. The host responded immediately when we needed her. Over all many fun memories were made and we hope to stay again. Thank you.
The house is perfect for a large group and the owner clearly organized it for groups, with things like 3 refrigerators, a huge dining room table, and lots of hooks to hang towels and stuff on in the bedrooms. It's a beautiful setting in the woods.
Two things to be aware of: The driveway entrance is steep. You have to wash sheets and towels before you leave, which was a bit of a challenge to get done before check-out.
We are repeating a few reviews that were helpful to know before we left:- the steep driveway at the bottom was challenging because of loose gravel and run-off bumps, but only lasted a short distance.- we had some hot days and were very grateful for the A/C. But the upstairs bedrooms were definitely warmer than the main floor.- Our family gathering (35) spans the entire age range, so the little playground, shuffleboard, pickleball and basketball court, and picnic table area were in constant use. The hottest day we spent playing games on the spacious living room floor and doing crafts using the long kitchen table. The last very hot day we drove the 35-minute beautiful drive to Little Buffalo State Park with a large pool and lots of picnic area and it was not too crowded. There is a 6/person fee, but we found it totally worth it.- Communication was prompt and helpful.
This home was great for our extended family of 26! The kitchen was well-stocked. The huge dining room table could seat us all. The 3 refrigerators and 2 ovens/stoves were great. We missed having a dishwasher, but we just used more disposable paperware so we weren't doing dishes all week! The living room was great with lots of nice couches. The smart TV worked well. It was nice having the option of using the towels and sheets there, even though we had to wash them before we left. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms on the first floor. The rest of the bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms are on the 2nd floor. Bring your own toilet paper and other paper supplies. The kids had lots of fun playing outside and in the basement. Thank you for letting us stay in your home! We had a wonderful time!
It was a beautiful location and a perfect size for our growing family.
Very spacious and clean.
It was advertised on the amenities that there was a whirlpool spa, which we did not see.
I would recommend someone going a little early to familiarize yourself with where everything is at. Sheets, towels, toilet paper, etc.
The host was flexible with our check out time since guests are required to wash towels and bedding that are used. A little tricky with a bigger group but doable if you don't mind the extra work.
A great peace of property, perfect for kiddos and teenagers to explore and use the swingset.
I would recommend a bigger sign going into the lane as it was very easy to miss for several people in the party, especially at night.
Overall the whole group enjoyed our stay and we will most likely be using again in the future. Thank you!
We love the house, it has three refrigerators, a lot of room with comfortable beds , in the basement they have some games for kids. The signal is not good but the house has wifi and you need to connect to the wifi if you want to make a phone call. We liked everything, the only inconvenience was: the to do list or rules of the house they have, they want everything clean, and the same order were it was, they want you to wash, fold the towels and sheets used and also put it where you took it. We supposed to get there at 11:00 and we left the house almost 2;00pm because of that. Mrs.Barbie understood, but we didn’t like that. In my opinion they should add the cleaning service instead of host fee that we never used.
We had great time! The House and grounds were fantastic, Barbie was so prompt and accommodating for everything we needed! I would say, if you do not have 4WD (Like we didn't), let them know ahead of time during winter! Even with that little blip, we had a wonderful time! Thank you!
Big house with plenty of room and property. We enjoyed the fireplace outside and hiking along the trails. If you are looking to get away from the city and enjoy a weekend without phones this is the place for you.
We loved the house, whether could have been better, rain all weekend, but we had a wonderful time. The road to get up to house could be better. We would like to stay again.
My friends and I had a great time at the quiet mountain home. We prepared many meals in the well-equipped kitchen and spacious eating area. We had restful sleeps in the comfortable beds. It was great to feel more connected to nature as well. Many pleasant memories were made here.
My family and I were excited to find this listing - we get together every year from around the country and this listing was a great price and location. The activities and space were lovely, as pictured, and we had plenty of room for indoor and outdoor activities. However, we found bug bites throughout the weekend that we originally attributed to mosquitoes but later confirmed were bed bugs. 6 out of 10 of the rooms had bed bugs and several family members took them home - the host admitted they've had issues in the past and did little to help us resolve the issue.Stay here at your own risk - it's a beautiful spot and a great price, but know you run the risk of taking bed bugs home with you!
We were looking for a property that could sleep our large group of college friends and their families and this house was perfect! There was plenty of space for the kids to play and we loved having a table large enough for everyone. The house is in a rural area so plan to drive a bit if you need to do a large grocery run. Host was very responsive and helpful with our questions regarding planning.
