Overall okay, but they do reusable water bottle and fill their water- noth our bottles had visible debris(black and white) particles floating around. When asked front desk how they ‘sanitize’ the bottle as they claim, the front desk initially tried to dodge by saying it was bubbles, then when evidence was shown(video/photos) they said they use a dishwasher. But the shape of the bottle has very narrow neck so not sure how effective dishwasher is for bottle sanitizing. No apologies, they only offered to replace water with another one of their own so we declined. Otherwise perfect location, breakfast staff were very friendly and polite.

The Sofitel is right in the centre of Queenstown so all the bet shops and restaurants are walkable. We had a new room so super modern and clean as well as being a good size for two people. Staff were really helpful. The bed was great and we slept well.

The facility itself is beautiful, clean, well maintained. The staff are friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. Valet made the stresses of parking easy. I loved my room! The heated floors were a big plus.

Hiking in the day, Queenstown luxury at night
The Hotel worked very well for me. The location was an easy walk for several hikes, Zipline and Gondola. Plenty of good restaurants near by. Included in my room was breakfast, and lighter snacks with drinks in the lounge in the early evening. All these were very well done. All the people working with the hotel, seemed on a mission to make my stay great. The succeeded.

Way too pricey for what they were offering. The WiFi did not work and I had to call the reception desk 3 times to complain and it never got better. RIP OFF, the room was not that nice either. Everything was grossly overrated and overpriced.

I was on the same floor they were doing major construction so it was noisy, dusty/dirty walking from the elevator do the room and noise in the room when trying to relax during the day.

Bonjour CarmelitaAs you had booked through a third party, we were not able to communicate the renovations that were taking place as the third party does not provide sufficient ways to communicate with you nor do they update the listing to provide this information.If you had booked directly you would have seen several warnings that some of the hotel was under renovation as we have pop-ups and banners on our app, website and reservation confirmations.The choice to renovate during the day was a decision not made lightly, but effects the least of our guests as most guests are out exploring the region from snow capped mountains on the ski fields or having an adventure to Fiordland. Very Central
lovely hotel up to normal Sofitel expectations, nice big room, very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast, we stayed in a club room and enjoyed the club facilities, the salon bar was very pleasant.The only down side is parking is a bit of an issue but at least the central location meant town was very accessable.

What let this review down was a very poor check in - however the concierge on that day was just lovely and made you feel at home. Again felt that the next day and following 3 mornings in the restaurant for breakfast with possibly the most wonderful team - the head waitress was just lovely, not that you meet the kitchen staff but the food was excellent… thankyou. We had 2 rooms - one in the renovation floor - would have been peeved off if from overseas but I understand the difficulty of getting this done - all the workers were very polite and I was amazed how fast carpet can go down ! Yes would return … and plan to soon… excellent position in Queenstown to restaurants, bars , everything … child friendly and breakfast was excellent!

Excellent location. Limited for bar or dining options but the location helps here. The cleaning staff & team in restaurants and bars were nice/friendly - check in staff not so much unfortunately. We loved the welcome gift in the room - was a nice touch. Biggest letdown here was the bed, very uncomfortable! Awful in fact. Very flat and felt like we’d fall out. Hesitant to stay again because of this, which is a shame… considering the price, should be better!

Impossible to read in the room at night. Bedside lamps were useless. No on demand tv. It said there was but only had Sky and no staff member knew to access it on demand. Terrible for a top class hotel. Had two different rooms, both had cracked sinks, one no door stop on the bathroom door so it smashed into the bath. Overall very disappointing. Elsewhere next time.

Lovely older style hotel ..but … my room overlooked a bar and the noise suppression was non existent so I may as well have had 20 people in my room when trying to go to sleep on Saturday night. Also, hotels need to ditch synthetics in blankets and mattress protectors … so much static electricity and heat which makes it impossible to get a good sleep for someone who is sensitive to such things

It was ok, expectations were significantly higher than actual, for the money. I would call it a 4 star, not 5 star.

It's ok, but you can probably find better value.
For the nightly rate, there are better options. This hotel is in a good location, however the parking is expensive, there was a mad juggle to find a room for us at checkin, the room we had, well the balcony had an eye-level view of the street so curtains were closed most of the time, the armchair and leg rest were covered in stains (I refused to use them), all the drawers wouldn't open/close smoothly (it's just age, but for the nightly rate this should be addressed). To top it off, the room we had had just had a new amenities system installed, without the amenties but with stickers plastered all over it with warnings about the glue used. Overall, for the high nightly rate I expected a lot more. The bed was comfy, so that was good, but it was one of the few redeeming features.

Loved it, would not hesitate to go again. Only issue was they were under staffed but unfortunately this is a common theme amongst all of Queenstown’s hotels, restaurants etc. Also disappointed by attitude of some pompous guests!

Fabulous hotel and staff. The room was xcellent , very clean , comfortable bed and a great bath. Staff very freindly and helpful , nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast and breakfast dervice was fantastic . Look forward to going back.
