The house itself was even lovelier than the photographs suggested—bright, airy, and perfectly positioned to take in sweeping views of the ocean. Each morning, we lingered over coffee as the waves shimmered in the sunlight, and each evening we savored a glass of wine while watching the sky melt into shades of pink and gold.Within just a few minutes’ walk, we found an abundance of excellent restaurants serving fresh, local flavors. Snorkeling, diving, and kayaking were all conveniently nearby, making it easy to fill our days with adventure. The community’s warmth made us feel instantly at home, and the charming local market just a block away—brimming with fresh produce, cheeses, and baked goods—is not to be missed. Vila Franca do Campo was everything we hoped for and more."

"We had a lovely stay at Caloura Hotel Resort. The location is quiet, remote, and beautiful—perched on the cliffs with peaceful sea views and lush gardens. It was especially nice to be able to walk down to the ocean through the grounds. The hotel feels very calm and relaxing, but you definitely need a car to get around. We had a ground-floor room overlooking the pool. The room itself was fairly basic but comfortable, and it was great to have a little balcony. The corridor outside had a strange smell when we first arrived, but the staff quickly resolved it after we mentioned it at reception. I wish I could remember the receptionist’s name (possibly Alfonso?)—he was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times. The food was a bit hit-and-miss, but the staff were always apologetic and clearly doing their best. Overall, the friendliness and helpfulness of the team really made a difference and made up for anything the hotel might lack in luxury. Lots of free parking too. We’d happily stay again and would recommend it to others looking for a peaceful base on São Miguel."

"The house was well-equipped, good sized rooms, very clean and the check in was easy and well organized. Nice view from the deck. We had our own parking spot - it was tight between the other houses and we had to back in but it was fine. All the appliances worked well. It was functional and easy to live in. The house was already showing a bit of wear and tear (bathroom walls, etc) but overall it was very clean. Location is excellent, close to Caloura and good swimming and eating!"

The bedroom and bathroom spaces were excellent, the living areas were spacious and great for a large group and the hot tub and outdoor seating areas were lovely. The host was super responsive to all my questions. They even provided beach towels. I highly recommend this house. "
