The best time to visit Porto Jofre is during the dry season, from May to October, as this period offers the best opportunities for wildlife spotting.During these months, the water levels in the rivers and wetlands are lower. This concentrates the wildlife around the remaining water sources, making animals like jaguars, capybaras, and caimans easier to find along the riverbanks. The weather is also more agreeable, with less humidity and fewer mosquitoes, which makes for a more comfortable experience during boat safaris and land excursions. For those specifically hoping to see jaguars, the peak dry season, generally July to September, is often considered the prime time. The chances of spotting these elusive cats are significantly higher as they frequent the riverbanks to hunt and cool down. This period is ideal for dedicated wildlife photographers and serious nature enthusiasts who want to maximise their viewing opportunities. While the wet season (November to April) brings lush greenery and bird migration, the dense vegetation and higher water levels make larger mammal sightings much more challenging.
