The Globe House on Munjoy Hill - Walk to Breweries
A fun, modern, cozy apartment sitting on top of Munjoy Hill on North Street. Enjoy some of the best views in the city facing southwest to downtown, the Back Cove, with the White Mountains in the background, and stunning sunsets. The apartment is part of a two-unit home that we own and occupy. Enjoy the sunny backyard overflowing with flowers, hops, apples and grapes. We are a 2-minute walk to Washington Avenue, where there are a number of amazing restaurants, bars, breweries, distilleries and hip stores. We are an 8-minute walk to the East Bayside brewery area.
Our home was built in 1876. It is one of the oldest homes on the hill. We bought the house in 2010 and have renovated it. We are a family of four living upstairs. We are an international family. I am from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and my wife is from Lisbon, Portugal. We love to travel the world seeking adventure and sun in the winter. We are very passionate about surfing, skiing, mountain biking, beer, food and Portland, so if you have any questions please feel free to ask us.
We made the apartment a fun blend of the historic nature of the home with modern touches and artwork we have picked up while traveling the globe. My wife Rita from Portugal speaks Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, and Italian for those travelers preferring to communicate in these languages. We truly hope you have a wonderful stay in our little oasis on the hill.
Please note that our two-bedroom set up is “railroad style”, so you go through one bedroom to get to the second bedroom. This is a common and authentic style of building in the 1800s. This setup is great for families with kids, but we will defer to you to decide if it is comfortable for two couples seeking privacy. As a solution. we have a sectional sofa that converts to a queen size bed in the living room. This is not a traditional pullout with uncomfortable bars in the middle, instead if feels like an actual mattress. We have a super soft topper for it to make it even cozier. The living room has window curtains that can be closed for privacy for those sleeping on the converted sofa.

The apartment is lovely. LOVED the tea selection and the bottle of wine was very tasty. It was also super easy to get into the apartment at check in time. Couldn't have been easier!
The property is in a lovely section of Portland and close to the Eastern Promenade for exercise. We loved relaxing in the living room and dining room, both spacious. And the sunset from the park a block away was beautiful.
We had a great time staying here! The space is well decorated, clean, and the location is great: just up the hill from great restaurants and breweries.
We recently stayed at a lovely house in Munjoy Hill with breathtaking views. The home was perfectly appointed with a modern kitchen and comfortable living area, making it feel like a home away from home. We loved being able to walk to the several great local eateries, all within minutes of the house. The convenience of being able to walk to to the beach was great. We'd highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a scenic and convenient base for exploring Portland."
My family stayed two nights on our summer vacation. The host was excellent and left great restaurant recommendation's. Our boys slept well on the convertible couch. A great stay.
Excellent communication with host, property as described with additional touches from the host that made us feel welcome, right at home. Beds were comfortable and that can make or break a stay for me! Wonderful location, overall great experience!
The location couldn't be better - walking distance to many of the breweries and cute shops and restaurants, gorgeous view from backyard, and the inside was so beautifully decorated. Rita was an excellent communicator and had great local recommendations!
The photos drew us in, and the reality did not disappoint! Great location, easy parking and close to two bus lanes. 7 minute walk to watch the sunrise, bagels 4 minutes away.
We rented the property for our visit to Portland due to our daughter’s graduation. It was a perfect spot for our weekend trip. Great location. Walkable to all of central Portland. The owners are very helpful and responsive. Highly recommend.
We had a great stay at Ryan and Rita’s home. The neighborhood was great, a short walk to cafes, bars, restaurants and the beautiful eastern promenade. The home was very nice and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Our hosts gave great local recommendations and were wonderful with communication. Thank you for a great stay!
The Globe House was the perfect spot for our friends gathering. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with many thoughtful amenities. Rita made sure we had everything we needed and the book in the apartment had great recommendations for restaurants and activities in the area. Would definitely book again when in Portland.
We had an excellent stay at The Globe House. The property was clean and just as advertised. The hosts were welcoming and incredibly responsive. They went above and beyond to accommodate the needs of our 7 month old that was traveling with us (provided a pack 'n play, high chair, toys, etc.).
Would stay again without hesitation. Would highly recommend to anyone.
