Luxury 5 Bed 4 1/2 Bath - Family Friendly, walk to town, close to beaches
Hydrangea House is the perfect New England escape for large families and groups. Five bedrooms in total with 3 master suites. Beautiful inside and out-- quality landscaping, a perennial garden, a fenced area with fire pit, deck and a screened porch. Also a 2 stall garage, parking for 6 cars, **TESLA Charger**. Rented by the week Saturday-Saturday in prime season (late June to Labor Day). During the off season we rent for a minimum of 2 nights.
The house is fully heated and cooled with a state of the art mini-split system which allows you to control the temperature in every room. Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen with a 5 burner gas stove, all stainless steel appliances & dishwasher, custom cabinets & a large Island with breakfast bar. Quartz counter tops complete the kitchen. Two sets of sliding glass doors lead to the large screened porch with cathedral ceilings, a long deck with a Weber double gas grill with direct propane feed and large table for eating, a fire pit, horseshoe pit and fenced-in outdoor area. Between the cathedral ceiling dining room and open great room is a large gas fireplace with remote topped with a Large flat screen TV. Of course, wireless Internet is offered throughout the house (5G). The large open great room has ample seating with a full couch and loveseat, 4 chairs and a game table all in colors of white, navy, apple green and pops of coral. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a powder room downstairs with access to the 2 car garage. Two large master suites w/full baths complete the downstairs; one with a stand alone soaking tub and both with double sinks and large closets. Both have flat screen TVs. Finished Bonus Room with "SECRET" door! We have finished the bonus room above the garage and added a foosball table and 2 built in twin beds. Three more bedrooms & 2 full baths complete the upstairs: one large King, one Queen with its own ensuite bath with shower and a "family room" with a queen bed, a single bed and a twin bunkbed. Hydrangea has wood floors throughout with in-room area rugs for comfort. Low country front porch allows you to watch the comings and goings of small town Cape Porpoise or you can retreat to the totally private fenced back yard which backs up to the forever wild preserve land of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust. The house is a 1 minute walk to Cape Porpoise Square, Musette Restaurant, Nunan's Lobster Shack, Cape Porpoise Kitchen---best muffins ever with your morning coffee or latte--and Bradbury's market. Two houses up Langsford Rd., you find the wonderful Farm & Table gourmet shop and along Pier Road you will enjoy the Wright Gallery, featuring works of many highly regarded local artists. Stroll past the scenic harbor and up to the pier for great food and libations at Pier 77 Restaurant, the locals favorite--The Ramp sports bar-- and Cape Porpoise Chowder House for fresh, made to order seafood. While there, be sure to enjoy views of the Harbor, the surrounding Islands, Turbatts creek, and the view toward the Bush family compound at Walkers Point. Also make sure you watch the Goat Island light at the Lighthouse, listen for the melodic fog horn, and watch the lobstermen and fishermen bring in their catch. If you want more to do, Goose Rocks beach is 3.6 miles away, Kennebunkport & Dock Square are 2.5 miles away filled with local artisan shops and top restaurants. Take the drive from the house to Kennebunkport via Ocean Avenue to pass the Bush compound and see if the are in residence (The family crest flag will indicate). There is local theatre, (Ogunquit playhouse), outlet malls in Kittery, and the never locked doors of LL Bean in Freeport, 40 minutes north. Or take a short ride to other scenic seaside villages of Ogunquit and York, to the south, or a foodie's delight--Portland--just 30 minutes north. Along with the beaches, Pirates cove mini golf and the boardwalk and rides in Old Orchard Beach, riding the old trolleys at the Trolley Museum, candlepin bowling, the arcade and the Goldenrod at York Beach where you can watch them make the homemade taffy in the window. If it rains there is the IMAX in Saco, museums in Portland or games near the fire at your luxury home rental.

Fabulous vacation rental! Kevin was extremely accommodating and kind. The house far exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was well appointed. We had a fabulous lobster dinner there and enjoyed barbecue on Fourth of July with family. The house was a great location to get to beaches with the kids and wonderful restaurants and of course shopping in Kennebunkport. Would very much love to stay there again!
We had a wonderful stay at the Hydrangea House! Kevin was a great host who provided recommendations in advance of our stay, and also was very easy to get ahold of with questions. The beds were comfy, the house was right next to a grocery store and cafe (unfortunately we got there just a bit too early in the season for the lobster hut) and downtown Kennebunkport was less than a 10-min drive. It was really a perfect getaway, and we'd definitely consider staying here in the future.
House was beautiful, clean and equipped with everything we needed plus things we didn’t know we needed (like a steamed milk maker!) House was a perfect size for five couples and a bunch of teens!
Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children ages 6-15) had an incredible time at this property even in chilly March temperatures. We are very familiar with Kennebunkport, but less so with this part of town and it was so lovely. The house is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. Our kids loved all the options for sleeping, and the game room was a hit. Everything you could need and more in the kitchen and beyond. We will be back!
We really enjoyed our stay in this house that is very well set up for a group. The bunk room and game room were big hits with the kids. Thank you so much!
The house was lovely. Enough space for at least 4 couples. Everyone had their own private rooms. A lot of entertainments (babyfoot table, fire pit, games, etc.). Wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy all of it!
The home is exactly as shown … well appointed and beautifully decorated. Plenty of room for 10 of us. Beds are comfortable and rooms are large. Short drive to Dock Square where there. are plenty of restaurants and shopping.
You will not be disappointed by this home.
This is a lovely home that has been furnished and outfitted to give families like ours a great Maine vacation experience. Hydrangea House is big, open and airy home with plenty of room to gather or spread out. The kids love the secret room and we all love the Cape Porpoise locale. The hosts are kind and accommodating. This was was our second stay and we hope to be back next year b
We had 11 people, 6 adults, 4 kids ( aged 2.5 - 13) and an infant. Hydrangea house was stocked to provide something for everyone! Tubby time in the BIG deep tub was a favorite after the beach. Location is gorgeous, and close to many different activities.
Hydrangea House is the perfect spot to stay with a large group to create wonderful memories. Thank you!
There were 10 of us and we all had our own beds to sleep in which is great. The house is super cool, clean and nicely put together. We were there for the prelude and albeit the house was not walkable to dock square it was easy to drive there. Rides/shuttles were challenging but it was a busy weekend so that is understandable. If we go next year we will
Plan that a bit better. The house is great and we had a wonderful time.
Beautiful Rental property in Cape Porpoise - Kennebunkport
We had a fantastic stay in this property. Truely an amazing home. Beautifully decorated with tons of space. We were a family of 8 (Mom, Dad and 3 Adult "kids" with spouces). We had more than enough room and excellent kitchen facilitaties. The host was very responsive to all our questions. I can strongly recommend this home for any large group wanting to discover this area of the Maine coast. We also had our dog, as this is a pet friendly property.
The house is super clean and has a fully stocked kitchen. Beds are very comfortable and everything works. Wifi let all 9 of us do whatever we wanted. Location let us go everywhere we wanted in 10 to 15 minutes. Great lobster restaurant right across the street There is a deli and local grocery store that is a 3 minute walk away. Had an electric lock telling me it needed a battery. I let Kevin know and it was fixed within an hour. This really is a great place for a large family. We all enjoyed filling up the bird feeders and watch the birds and squirrels compete for the mix. I would highly recommend Hydragea House.
Our second stay at Hydrangea House was as satisfying as our first. The VRBO listing is admirably detailed and accurate, but even it does not fully capture the wonderful feeling of the house and the genius of the layout. The open concept of the ground floor, combined with the high ceilings and the second floor gallery, creates a sense both of spaciousness and connectedness that is very relaxing, and is enhanced by the quality and cleanliness of the furnishings. Each of the bedrooms is lovely, and together with the reading/game nooks on both levels there is ample opportunity both to gather and for privacy. And I have never seen a rental with such a great set-up for children, with the two connecting rooms that provide multiple beds- even including two queens who want to sleep near their kids- as well as games, without being crowded. Owner Kevin is a joy to deal with, and Cape Porpoise is a great setting. 5 stars all the way!
The Hydrangea House was a fantastic base for my family gathering. Beautiful house with a nice kitchen, a screened sunroom, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. But it's better than that. Kevin was very responsive and accommodating. The house was very well stocked. There was a cornhole setup complete with painted lobsters on the faces to help you aim. We were happy to find an extensive set of beach toys, a cooler and a sand cart in the spacious garage. Kevin thought of everything.
But wait, there's more. The house is close to a few very nice, small neighborhood markets, there's a popular restaurant across the street and a fish market a few blocks away. Also within easy walking distance is a lovely rocky point where you can watch the boats sail by and admire the beautiful Maine coastline.
No doubt this house was perfect for our large family gathering (13 people total). Thank you Kevin for helping us enjoy a terrific vacation.
