After the Christmas holiday we need needed a quiet peaceful place to just relax and shake off 2019. Well this little hideaway was the perfect spot! It is secluded and quiet. Our week there was absolutely perfect.
Very quiet location overlooking the bay. A lovely two bedroom that was clean and ready with the lights on when we arrived at almost dark. The space was nice even though it is smaller. It was a perfect week! We would rent this cottage again!

Nice getaway
As advertised, with the exception that the beach is NOT a 7-minute walk… more like a 7-minute drive. Given that line was a selling point for me, I felt misled.
Very nice and tidy little place, outfitted very well. Road way into the property needs work, lots holes and rough patches with tree/bush branches needing to be trimmed. Couldn't find an exterior electrical outlet. That would be nice for plugging in a fan to help keep the mosquitoes at bay while using the deck in the evenings. We would stay there again.
Not to be picky but you want feedback. When I reserved the cabin it was called Cardinal Cabin, the named was changed to Salt Retreat unknown to me. Great site, we loved it. We thought your decorator went a little overboard, too many pillows on couch and when we travel we need the tables with some room to put stuff on. Felt they were cluttered. Could use better directions for the TV, wrong HTML is in guidebook. If you would trim the plants around the larger sign it would be much easier to find.

Cute little cottage
The good: super cute, nicely decorated little cottage in a quiet and private location on the Bay. Property management was wonderful, had the house nicely lit up and ready for us when we arrived and available to answer questions during our stay. The not so good: the well water was horribly sulfuric, not suitable for drinking or even brushing your teeth. Washing the dishes and running the shower caused the entire cottage to smell for hours. A filter would be very helpful. Fridge exterior and under beds/ air vents were really dirty. Bugs are a given in the location but I was woken up one night by a cockroach the size of a small mouse biting the side of my leg in our bed. We did also have a party on the roof one night, some critters, totally fine, but understand you're in an old cottage in the woods and that's going to go along with it. The location is nice, near the start of the road along the Cape, beach access one mile away is great.

Unplug and De-stress in this Rustic Cabin
This cabin on Cape San Blas bay is very quiet and VERY remote. While my husband needed to totally unplug from work (our stay defintely filled his wishes due to frequent internet and phone service outages), I would have liked a few more creature comforts.
The cabin is perfect for sleeping - comfy bed and linens - but if HVAC is needed, the unit/blower must sit just below the bed. We're good sleepers, but it was loud enough to be disruptive. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking - plenty of pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware, but has no dishwasher. Hand washing was difficult with the uber deep sink + the liquid dish soap, though beautifully boxed in the 360 Blue 'kitchen starter' kit was lousy.
We had plenty of hot water and towels for bathing, and really enjoyed the outdoor shower/tub. Also enjoyed the large, furnished porch with party lights and fan.
In summary, Salt Therapy seems perfect for outdoorsy, fishing folks with dogs, and really anyone wanting to unplug ... not so much for those just wanting to enjoy the serenity of quiet days and nights along WITH a few more creature comforts. Personally, I'd want to spend more to get those.

Really great overall - but some FYI/observations
The bad news is that if you need to get ahold of the management company for something, you may be out of luck. I was NEVER able to contact them despite calling and calling - call went to endless hold regardless of what extension I used. Never even got voice mail - just hold music endlessly. Luckily, the property was around the corner from the management building so we just went there in person.
The GOOD news is that there have been some improvements that the photos didn't show: the kitchen counter is now a single piece all the way across giving much more usable counter area, and a small dishwasher was added. Also, the front deck has been enlarged and screened-in and the resulting porch is wonderful.
Subject to opinion: the property sleeps six but reasonably, that may be 2 too many. The property is charmingly small, but too small for 6 (in my opinion). However, the homeowners may have it set this way for their personal use. Decor is lovely but since the property is small, some surfaces could use less decor to open space up for clients belongs (again, maybe homeowners prefer this for themselves). Try to pack very minimally. There are lots of hooks throughout the property which really come in handy.
The master bed was comfortable and in good condition, sheets and towels seemed clean and fluffy.
Overall - really good experience and the location is absolutely the best part!
Secluded and quiet location was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. The house was adorable. It was so great to be able to walk right out into the bay and play in the water with the dogs. The boards on the walkway could use a little work. Great location! Short walk or drive to everything. The house had everything we needed!

Less than expected
My husband and I were so looking forward to a relaxing long weekend at Cardinals Cottage. Unfortunately, we ended up cutting our short stay even shorter. The bed was so uncomfortable we couldn’t bare another night. Not to mention the critters (likely mice) running in the attic all night. It was impossible to relax not knowing exactly what was running around overhead. Another issue were the mosquitos outside. We couldn’t enjoy the lovely porch and beautiful view because of the swarm of mosquitoes. Lastly, while the cottage itself is located right on the bay with an amazing view, the other cottages on the road are very sketchy and uninviting. This cottage has so much potential.
The views were wonderful! We were happy with exploring the bay and driving a short distance to beach. A few things to take notice: floors needed sweeping, outside of fridge needs a good cleaning with a little elbow grease, and cockroaches were found.
This house is so cozy and in the perfect location! The bay is so quiet-with the occasional local fishing for crabs. The mosquitos are BRUTAL so bring something heavier than the average bug spray. Otherwise, it was beautiful trip away from the city! Thank you, Natural Retreats!
Spent a relaxing week at this bay fro t property. The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and pet friendly. The setting is very private and quiet. Loved the outdoor shower after coming home from the beach. Beautiful view of the bay while relaxing in the family room.
We did have some trouble finding the cottage. The address given to us and added to our GPS got us pretty close, But there was no street sign or house number on the property.

Cute cottage
Visited mid December. View of the bay is beautiful. Cottage has just about everything you need. Cottage was very clean and welcoming. Only thing that would make it better is a screened porch

Phenomenal!
This little cottage was perfect for our getaway. My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs and loved every second. The cottage is exactly as it appears in the photos (which is not always the case with rentals). We loved the decor, the comfortable bed, the outdoor shower, the porch, and the dock/pier that we used to access the bay. The kitchen, though small, was better equipped than any kitchen of any other beach rental we have ever had. There were ample pots and pans, utensils, mixing bowls, two coffee pots, and even a hand mixer! It is very dog friendly with the hard floors throughout. We loved the privacy and spent several afternoons with chairs out on the dock enjoying our dogs and shallows of the bay. Wildlife was abundant. There are many starter supplies that we have not experienced with other rentals: ground coffee, salt & pepper, soaps for laundry, dishes, and skin, ample towels, paper towels, toilet tissue, and liquid soaps at the sinks. There were even supplies to wipe the counter tops! It truly is the eye for the little details that make this place wonderful. For example, they had lights on and music playing for us when we arrived as we came in well after sunset. So, we were not stumbling about an unfamiliar place trying to blindly locate switches. The ONLY thing I can think of that could make this place any better would be to screen part of the porch for the warm months when insects are as abundant as the love poured into the creation of this space. With that said, there are two citronella candles on the porch and bugs will not carry you off to make dinner of you in mid October.I really hope to return in the near future. This is THE BEST experience we have had yet.
