Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Poienarii De Argeș?
The best area to stay near Poienarii De Argeș is along the Transfăgărășan Road, particularly in the vicinity of Arefu or Curtea de Argeș, as Poienarii De Argeș itself is a historical site without direct accommodation.

For those looking to explore the region's natural beauty and historical sites, staying in Arefu offers a good base. This village is located at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, just a short drive from the Poenari Citadel. It provides easy access to the Transfăgărășan Road, known for its beautiful mountain scenery and winding passes. You'll find a selection of guesthouses and small hotels here, many offering views of the surrounding hills.

Curtea de Argeș, a larger town slightly further south, is an excellent choice for travellers interested in history and local culture. It's home to the famous Curtea de Argeș Monastery, a significant architectural landmark, and the Princely Church of Saint Nicholas. The town offers more dining and shopping options than Arefu, and its central square is a pleasant place to relax after a day of sightseeing.
When is the best time to go to Poienarii De Argeș?
The best time to go to Poienarii De Argeș is from late spring to early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.

This period typically offers warm, sunny days, which are ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and visiting historical sites. The average temperatures during these months range from 15°C to 25°C, making it comfortable for sightseeing without the extreme heat of mid-summer or the chill of late autumn.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the lush green landscapes and comfortable hiking conditions during this time. The Poenari Citadel, a key attraction, is more accessible, and the surrounding trails offer scenic walks. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive exploration.

For families, these months provide the great conditions for outdoor adventures. Children can enjoy exploring nature and historical sites without being too cold or too hot.
