Terrible place, no outdoor pool in use this season

The hotel is very old, bed are not that comfortable, there are all sorts of noises especially at night. I was scared both nights I stayed in as a woman. Didn’t feel safe. I booked this hotel because had a pool advertised but the pool was not in service which was disappointing and the services are definitely not updated. Breakfast was very average. It’s a shame that the hotel from outside looks amazing but inside needs a renovation and needs updating.

My room had a strong stench of cigarettes which never seemed to disappear. I think the previous guests smoked inside the room. Also, there was a forgotten plate with sweets on the cupboard. The outdoor swimming pool was closed which wasn’t written anywhere on the website, and the main reason I booked here was because of the outdoor pool. The staff barely spoke Bulgarian. The only good thing is the indoors swimming pool and the staff taking care of it. The two guys - the chemist caring for the water and the lifeguard were so kind!

We had a three night stay in Plodiv. We primarily choose this hotel for its pool. The first issue is only one of the two pools is functional ( the indoor one ) and the outside pool has clearly not been functioning for years. The hotel structure is beautiful but it’s in desperate need of modernisation. For example the beds while clean were very hard and aged and the rooms were very dark and gloomy. The staff was helpful and friendly ( by Bulgarian standard’s ) despite the condition of the hotel.

This is a traditional style large grand hotel in the centre of town. While it is less "grand" than it presumably once was, it still delivers good levels of comfort, room size, and service. The location is conveniently very close to the old town, historic attractions, parks and restaurants.
